F12 30amp starter fuse
Hello. I cannot wrap my head around this. If anyone has any insight, please respond?
My 2010 Camaro SS was sluggish starting. Finally, it wouldn’t start at all. Checked battery and it was good. Towed it home and ordered new starter. Installed new starter and same issue. Discovered blown 30amp starter fuse. Replaced it and then she fired right up. No issues for a while. Figured my sluggish starter fried that fuse. Then couple months later, suddenly same issue. No start. The fuse was blown. Replaced it. Started right up. Got about four more cold starts and then the fuse was blown again. Replaced starter relay and started to pull the fuse after starting to make sure it isn’t blowing while driving. It was not. It blows after around the second start. What could this be? The fuse only blows after a successful start. Everytime I put a new one in it starts the car then goes. Shouldn’t this fuse blow right when the starter engages or as soon as the ECU sends the start signal if there is a short? I’ll take another look at the wires, but this is really weird. And why always two starts?! Any smart car electricians, please help or tell me what to check/measure, please. Thank you |
