Finally fixed EPS issue!!!!

After months of dealing with the EPS issue, I can finally say it's fixed.

-Originally put in 3 grounds.. trunk/bellhousing/block..... Result: Nothing
-New battery after 8/9 years...... Result: Nothing
-New rack $1000/reprogrammed.....Result: Fixed but service power steering would come on every other day or every after 2-3 days. I thought low voltage was causing the issue, but it wasn't that. Had history DTCs come up, cleared, but issue still arose.
-Reprogrammed the yaw sensor and that finally fixed it! No codes came up, even when ALL electrical components on, no issues.

It's literally that, a sensor that measures the yaw of the car. For manual cars it actives the hill start assist.

A lot of 1LE guys would swap in a yaw sensor from an auto and it would disable the hill strt. Don't know if early 5th gens had hill start assist or not.

Is there a switch in the car for that? My 2015 Xterra PRO-4X has the hill descent switch you can manually press. For a Camaro... never knew this was a thing. for going up hill? ... Learned something new today eh!

I don't think mine have hill start assist.

In the 80s we would try to find cool options to upgrade our 70s base muscle cars. Now, we try to delete the factory functions because they are long run maintenance issues.

I swapped in an auto one in my car and got rid of it, easy swap, You can override it by pulling up on the e brake a little.

No switch in the car. Nothing in the settings either.

Works going up hill. Wether in reverse or 1st. When you are stopped it applies the brake for a few seconds preventing the car from going anywhere. The hsa applies the brakes rather aggressively and then just totally releases them.

Does your 2013 SS have hill start assist? I actually got it in my 9th gen (13-17) Honda Accord manual models. They would detect an incline once you clutched in, and it would hold the brakes (I believe) for about 3 seconds, and then would just release it. You would have to give it gas and start taking off, going against the brake, for it to feel tension or detect movement (not sure which, might be something entirely different) before it disengages the brakes.

Are the 5th gen Camaro manual models with HSA, all the same? I actually kinda prefer it… Not that I’m a terrible (manual) driver, but I don’t really tend to have any issues with the hill start assist. I also liked the hill hold feature in newer cars, manual or not; it’s very handy IMO.

My 2013 camaro ss had the hill start assist. I did try to use it, but it was more frustrating than anything. So, I swapped the part out with one from an automatic just to get rid of that stupid crap.

Rupert, a couple of questions.
1. What lead you to the Yaw sensor.
2. How is it reprogramed? Can it be done with HP tuner or is this a GM fix only?

Thanks, glad it got it figured out.

I didn't have to program my yaw sensor when I went from manual to auto.
