Unhappy Lack of bass in boston acoustics

Hi everyone,

I have for almost a years 2010 Camaro 2SS with roughly 35k miles , there is a problem with sound system. It seems like stock speakers have lack of bass, a music sounds in the car like you are listing it from your phone. Adjusting equalizer won't help a lot.
I have checked in the other Camaros how the Boston acoustics speakers sound and speakers are way better sound and do not have lack of bass.
Everything else works good.

I went to local shops to let them fix it and they just want to replace whole sound system and offer me a price between $4k to $8k. This is expensive for me.

I did not know a lot about Camaros before, so far I figure out that my car has MyLink navigation with touchscreen display, rear camera and back up sensors. Those kind of thing were installed only on a 2013-2015 model years.

I am the third owner, I talk to the previous owner about it and he said the the first owner had done all those upgrades.

I checked radio and AMP fuses and they are fine.
I am assuming the problem with amplifier or wrong installation of the head unit (MyLink touchscreen display)

I am on the way to buy used amplifier from 2013 model and try it but before that I would like to ask you guys what do you think where can be an issue?

Thank you!

Hi,
I'm just replacing the OEM amp with a JL amp RD400/4 and adding a 10" sub in the truck.
It's to much work for me to replace the 6x9" in the deck.

I'm also replacing the head unit to but that's another story.
I'm sure there's a lot of guys with better/more info that might be helpful to you.

$4K-8K for a fookin' car stereo? I'm a guitar playing, child of the 60-70's and always loved my car music but sumbitch, that's almost as much as my parents paid for their house.

At home I have a 1000W Peavy PA and 4, 15" JBL's. I'll just go there and rock the F out, thank you!

I have tried a few different sets of speakers and even different head unit, This car just doesnt produce great base! Maybe a subwoofer is the best way. I have Focals and JBL's now and its not bad , But when i drive my Ram truck with the Alpine system it blows away any set up i have tried in the camaro! I remember my 75 camaro with just 6x9's back in the day sounded great , just dont understand why this 5th gen lacks sound.

Believe me I went to check the others 5th Camaros SS with stock audio system and it doesn't sound so bad like mine. It is worse than my daily Audi but better than my Camaro.

It definitely somewhere issue with sound system. Just checking if anyone has any idea what it can be.

I've complained about not enough Bass in my 2010 or my 2011 2LT's with Boston Acoustics before.. the sound is great but not enough bass. It does not provide the thumping feel Bass should have. However, when driving my 2015 Nissan Xterra PRO-4X.. it has the factory Rockford Fosgate sound system in it and it has way more Bass than my Camaro's ever had. The thumping feel is there and it sounds/feels like it should.

The stock Boston Acoustics system sucks. I went with an Alpine head unit and replaced all the speakers, amp, & subwoofer with Infinity.

I have my bass nearly maxed on the head unit. Its like 2 clicks away from max. 14 on volume I notice the rear view shaking badly and the trunk starts rattling like an old hooptey. Bass is fine on the BA speakers for me.

I'll have to try that in the Camaro and see from there. I usually have the volume on 20 and the bass at the halfway mark. On my Xterra the volume is usually at 14-15 and the bass is at the halfway mark. If I go up more then the bass becomes annoying. If I have to boost the bass even more on the Camaro... I afraid I may shorten the life expectancy of the speakers...

How much did that cost you if you don't mind my asking?

If I recall correctly, I want to say $2800-3000 all said and done. We did the audio right after I ripped out the interior for the race seats and roll cage install.
