Theft deterrent system reset

My Theft deterrent system light is on the dashboard, and the car doesn't start. I have heard that you have to try multiply times to leave the key in the on position for 10+ minutes but the car still wouldn't start.

Does somebody have another idea ? I'm trying to avoid have to tow it to the dealership for a reset.

Disconnect your negative battery cable for about 30 minutes or so, it will reset all the systems when you reconnect it. You will though have to re-index your windows, and reset your time and date on the radio.. Good luck..

Always possible that you have had an actual hard failure in the system. Failed module, damaged wiring, failed key etc.

You need a scanner that will access the BCM(Body Control Module). Likely a failed component.
