2015 ZL1 Clutch Issues

Just picked up a 2015 ZL1 Manual off Facebook marketplace has a aftermarket cam not sure which one ported supercharger, larger throttle body, 2.35 grip tech pulley and 9.17 lower pulley, flex fuel kit and some other mods done to it. Previous owner told me he had a 1400 HP McLeod Clutch Installed. When ever you are taking off you have to pretty much burn the clutch to get it going or else it will stall. I’ve had a Cammed Camaro SS in the past with an after market clutch but I never had these kinds of issues with it. Is this something that’s normal with a heavy duty twin disk clutch combined with an aggressive cam or is there something that can be done?

Sounds like your clutch is slipping . How old is the clutch ? Could be number of issue from worn out from hard launches to bad clutch/brake fluid if it doesn’t have a dedicated resivior. Or if new improper throw out bearing clearance .

How far off the floor does your clutch pedal first engage gear ?
How’s the clutch pedal feel when pushing on it ?

I have a monster triple s and I love it ! Feels like stock

Congrats with the purchase gotta go through them with a fine tooth comb when your deal with FB market place

Post a video if you can.

Also the higher HP McLeod clutches are ceramic and those are quite grabby.

I have the RXT1200HD clutch with basically the same build and I can let mine out barely off idle without a stall. The flywheel they send with this clutch needs ground before install and the clutch assembly balanced to get best results. There's also specific adjustments needed at that time. Watch the video below if you plan to salvage it.

Clutch pedal engages at the very end and the pedal feels normal not too soft or hard. Feels just like my old Camaro did. It does seem to be putting the power down fine when doing pulls. It also shift smooth no grinding at all. Brake Fluid looks new.
Do these cars have a separate reservoir for clutch fluid or does it just use the brake fluid?
Is there another way to check for slippage?
I will try and post a video later today
Appreciate all the responses

They use brake fluid reservoir (I separated my clutch and added a separate reservoir for clutch)

Wonder if it's flywheel material. I've heard the lightweight aluminum needs a good amount of RPM vs the steel.

If it has an aluminum flywheel there is less inertia so you would have to rev it to keep from stalling with an aggressive cam, the upside is you will rev quicker.
