Hood strut support

What are you all using for your hood strut lift support? Any suggestions? Mine has gone bad and is in need of replacing. I have the TPIS adapter bracket for my GM strut tower bar for my early 2010 Camaro. I cannot remember if I ever replaced the strut 7-8 something years ago or if I reused the same one. Are all struts made the same in order to accommodate this? Thanks in advance.

Oh and on a side note... I may want to go with a chrome or a blue color version to match my under hood color theme. I saw this version on Amazon... however it states it is compatible for the 2015-2024 Camaro... whatever that means...

I just replaced mine with OEM when it went bad. RPI and Phastek sell the pre painted aluminum covers to go over the OEM struts.

Not a bad idea thanks!

Just ordered a strut cover from RPI and an OE strut from Rock Auto. Looking forward to the installation

Interesting, sounds like that was an old brand back in the day. I can’t find anything about a “TPIS” branded strut brace for the 2010 Camaro’s. Was it a multi-point strut tower/engine bay brace?

But as far as the hood strut replacements, I’m not picky; I go with whatever’s cheap and available. OEM is perfectly fine too, I guess. I usually buy random generic aftermarket replacements on Amazon or eBay.

Lately though, idk if it’s the fitment of the Amazon branded hood strut, but it’s gotten slower and doesn’t feel like it’s “broken in”. It also feels like the strut isn’t exactly the right size (off by a mm or so).

Its not a strut brace. It is a strut bracket and adapter that was used for the early 2010 Camaros without the pre drilled holes in the strut towers. They no longer carry them from what I see. Adapters are used on each side along with the bracket on the strut side. Here is a pic of mine.

I received my strut sleeve yesterday after I placed my order over a month ago. Apparently there is a 45 day lead time.... Even though I placed the order through Rpidesigns.com... they outsourced it to https://americanbrotherdesigns.com

They did a great job! ... pics below...

I got insanely lucky and got a brand new in package TPIS adapter a few months ago from the Camaro5.classifieds. Even better, I think I paid like $60 for it since the guy had no use for it. I know this isn't really helpful to the thread but I had to share

How’d you get the right spots to drill? Did you kinda just eyeball them or did you have/make a template of some sort..? I see a lot of other kits, like BMR’s 4-point brace, just simply using nuts and bolts after drilling out the strut tower areas.

Looks like you’re using the OEM style 11+ factory front strut bar/brace, so I was wondering how you got them to mount on the rounded surface (11+ models have a “flattened” section, with threaded holes).

There was no template. I eyeballed it ha! Made sure it was where it needed to be using the undersided curved adapters that TPIS provided and made my measurements then marked the areas that needed to be drilled. As for the strut bar.. yes I am using the OEM style... back in South Florida... I received a coupon for $150 off parts from Sawgrass Chevrolet... and purchased the strut bar for the same price. Got it for free basically then had it painted at Maaco in the HotWheels Edition color. Only thing I did was repaintd the mounting ends in GM silver. The TPIS kit came with the bolts/nuts etc....
