Farewell to my Camaro

After a long thought process it made sense to let go of my beloved Camaro. I hadn’t driven it much in the last half of a decade or more and it didn’t make sense to have it deteriorating here at the house. It was one of the hardest things to let go despite never driving it. Another issue would arise each time I would turn it on and that was the sign for me to sell. She had 37,000 miles on her over the last 12 1/2 years. Hopefully it’ll fall in the hands of an individual that will be as happy as I was the day I bought it. I’ll still cruise the Camaro5 forum the same way I have been for the last 12 1/2 years. Thanks for all of the help along the way.

Sorry to hear. What have you been busy driving instead?

I have an old suburban and a F-250 as well. I mainly stopped driving it because I didn’t want it going to work as that would have screwed it up more than just sitting here. I work a whole bunch so it just kind of worked out that way.

I wish you well. Many winters I consider selling mine for the same reason. However, when summer comes around I remember exactly why I haven't. It's tough when I don't even get 1,000 miles a year on it anymore when I used to put 5k-7k a year on. I've been thinking this will be the year I hit 60k on the odometer for the last 5+ years. I'm only a few hundred miles away, so if I don't hit it this year, that will be extremely sad. Life with kids has made it tougher for me to get her out and let her stretch her legs.

While this is FAR from an endorsement for CA, the state's weather does allow me to drive it year round. As long as it's not raining sideways or sleeting, (get that in the foothills about 3x a year) I drive it some, everyday.

Going to put some Nitto Triple Nickels on the front today. Will match the brand in the back. Now I can take corners on two wheels again!

I definitely understand. Mine is 16 years old next month and has less than 10,000 miles. I try and drive it once a week to work which is less than 15 miles round trip. It sucks when they sit. For my situation, it’s paid for so it’s not costing me anything really to sit, and when I do drive it I remember instantly why I love it so much.

Have to get them out to drive, myself the last car I had I made a point to use 2 to 3 times a week even for short local runs or just for a drive. Cars as garage queens suck, I used to do it, just no point of owning something that sits and never enjoyed. Nothing drives the mind to sell a car more than not driving it at all. I have a neighbor that has owned an LT1 Firebird Formula for the last 20 years at least and I've never seen the car on the road once but at this point has all the war of a 4th gen FBody that has spent it's life outside I'm sure, needs a repaint for sure. Guy has a garage but has always chose to put his daily in the garage over the Firebird for some reason.

Cars/boats... most anything with an engine does not like sitting for extended time especially outside. Seals dry out, gas get stale, oil begins to get acidic after a year in use. Then to make it worse people will start it and let it idle in the driveway for a bit before shutting down without a proper heating cycle of the engine and transmission leading to buildup of condensation in the oil. Drive it and get it to full operating temp at least once every couple of months and the car will be much happier or store it with proper preparation including changing the oil and transmission fluid and draining the fuel before storage on blocks in a garage.

Wow,I cant believe the low mileage on some of these cars, currently at 92,000 on my 2015.Being retired I no longer have to let it sit in the sun and bake while Im at work,so for the last 5 years most of the mileage has been to the beach or car shows.
