Apparently gm has filed a trademark patent on Panther
Yup the Camaro's working name in the 60's could be making a return.
Could the 7th Gen be called "Panther" ? https://ls1tech.com/articles/chevy-c...mpaign=content

As long as its not an electric 4 door like a certain other pony car variant that would be nice.

I wish they’d create a 67 retro Camaro over ANYTHING else with a N/A engine, manual 6spd, and SS badge in middle of the grille. Hear that GM? Go back the panther’s roots and create a modern day retro 67 SS. Not some futuristic bs no one wants

Face it, boys. The 5th Gen was lightning in a bottle. 'Smoke em' if ya got em! There may never be a better old v new combo.

Probably not. Knowing Gm. It’ll be some electric crap. If it doesn’t look the part and plays the part I hope whatever panther comes about sells 1/8 of what they make and they sink. Bad enough Gm reliability is trash. When you have all the power at your finger tips to create an ICE vehicle that gets 40+ mpg with a V8 without all the AFM VVT BS yet you keep making crap that within 100k mi will break? Junk.

I’d bet it’s related to the panther edition of the 6th Gen. not holding my breath that they will do anything truly cool in the near future with the Camaro or panther names. They may do something but I doubt it will be cool.

Does anyone know how long nascar will let them just run the "chevrolet" moniker? I can only hope something is in the works but im not holding my breath either.

I think they are allowed technically to run the car as long as they want but they can’t make any body changes to the car which puts them at a serious disadvantage aero wise as time moves on. They are lucky to be winning races still at this point in my opinion. I’d expect by next year we will know what’s going on.

The Panther name and trademark has been filed and updated several times since the 5th gens released. It's normal operating procedure to do so in order to prevent another company from coming in and taking the name. I highly doubt anything will actual come to fruition. |

But also as mentioned, even if they do make a Hybrid or full EV Camaro version, even calling it Panther won't make it cool.

![]() That new Charger is a very nice looking car and I said from the beginning they should do the ICE version first then release the electric shaver ![]() But they went backwards and now have to reverse course. Caddy is going to be the first fully Electric division at gm I would think with that Charger getting such positive reviews for its retro look I would hope the Panther/Camaro will be retro.

gm also said the Camaro isn't dead it is on hiatus.
Using Panther on a limited edition 350 unit 6th Gen might just be an Easter egg for the future rather than a farewell.

I agree that Mary has seen the error of going electric which nobody wants.
Also made in Mexico is gonna cost biggly on a car nobody wants. And for God's sake make it in the U.S. until Canada actually becomes the 51st state. ![]() Being a cup is half full kinda guy I hope for a true '67 or '70 tribute without all the VVT and other type crap that is killing GM. The fifth gen saved Chevrolet imho and they could pull it off again. Maybe. Hopefully. Crossing fingers.
