GETTING OLD..

Hey guys and gals, thinking about taming down the loudness of my Corsa exhaust so it doesn't attract all the unwanted attention when I'm out driving, especially when I get on it. Granted I love the sound at idle, and just cruising through the gears normally, but like I said, she is very wicked loud at WOT! I'm looking at these two mid mufflers, had the Magnaflow before at one time when I was straight piped before my first catback, liked the sound, and I know it fits nice, but it is only 2.5 inch in and out, do I want that in the middle of my 3 inch catback? Or should I go with this Dynomax mid muffler that is 3 inch in and 3 out. Would that be better. Thing I'm wondering is if the Dynomax will fit as it is .75 wider, .50 taller, and 5.0 longer than the Magnaflow which is 20x9x4. I have had Dynomax mufflers on her before, and they sounded great. Just not sure about what I should do on the mid muffler. Thanks all.

Makes me glad I have the Corsa Sport - 2.5”
Nice and easy cruising and plenty of noise when you get on it.

Think I would stick with the 3”, if it fits, rather than 2 sizes married together. Probably doesn’t affect much but, none the less.

Well, I had a similar dilemma when I built my motor and my cam is small compared to yours and it can still be very loud even when my foot isn't in it mainly because the higher rpms when accelerating that is exacerbated by my 3200 Circle D stall.

I have tsp 1 7/8 with a solo mach xl catback. It is pretty tame at idle but when I floor it is loud as all #ell. But it is also loud when getting up to cruising speed as well because of the stall.

I would think resonators would help along with something like magna flow exhaust. Also solo started selling what they call a stealth mufflers series. Maybe give them a call and see what they say but I think having a bigger stall will be the hardest thing hurting you. Since you have what?....a 4k stall your rpm is always going to be elevated driving around town and louder as a result. Cut outs are another option too but more costly usually.
Also call some of these exhaust companies you are interested in. They can probably point you in the right direction.

I'm starting to feel the same way with mine too lol. It was awesome at first with the corsa but it started to fade, kind of wish I stayed with the dual mode npp and saved all that money for just a corsa catback lol.

I have a 4500 stall, and when I drive around town I drive in manual mode and the converter is locked in whatever gear I'm in. My tuner set it up in what he called "manual auto lock", so when I drive in any manual gear, the converter locks, it also halps me keep the trans cooler by being locked, and not slipping, so that isn't a loudness issue, when I want to play, I put her back in sport mode which will unlock the converter, and it will do it's thing as designed. Best of both worlds. lol. Like I said, I'm not concerned about cruising sound, and going up normally through the gears, it's that very loud WOT throttle noise and raspyness I'm getting tired of. And as for resonators, I tried to put some in the Flowmaster catback I used to have before this one, and there just isn't anywhere to put them without any under car interferience. Not enough room. And yeah, I do have cutouts, QTP's..

The smallest restriction in a system determines how much it will flow, but 2.5 vs 3 probably won't make a significant difference in your effort.

Thanks sir. I think I'm going the Dynomax route because it will be easier to install since it is a 3 inch in and out, where with the Magnaflow we would have to make 4 little adapters for the difference in tubing diameter. Not sure if the exhaust shop could expand the muffler tubing a half an inch without splitting it to slip over my 3 inch tubing. I'll have to inquire with them. I'm just over the loudness finally.. And since the Corsa's are straight through mufflers only designed to reduce drone, I need some tone to it.

I have the Corsa Extreme and got a ticket for the decibel level even though my state does not have one. I installed some magnaflow resonators and it tamed it down a lot. I had nothing between the long tubes and tips for a while.

I have the Corsa Extreme system on mine and I had to add Borla 10" long in-line resonators to the system to stop blowing over the 96db sound limit at my local track.
I am running Long tubes with no cats as well.

https://www.borla.com/products/unive...ORNtsfFOuelTqn

They have been great. They knock down the overall sound output by 10-20db so it I no longer get hassled for sound.
Same great Corsa sound, just turned down a notch.
I do miss the cracks and bangs on decel tho...

Awesome, thanks! Where in line in your system did you install them?

The shop I took it to put them right by the diff. They make changing the diff oil a little more difficult, but they fit there!
That was the difficult part, finding a spot in the system that could fit them without hitting anything or being too low.

I, however, am still young and am thinking about putting V-bands in so I can swap out the resonators for straight pipes to get more pops and bangs...
