Smart rear view mirror/cameras... Anyone tired one?

Have had my 2013 1LT for about a month. The things I dislike are as follows:


1. Unable to mirror my Android smartphone screen for apps and navigation
2. No backup camera
3. Rearview mirror has poor visibility and glass is getting spots on it around the edge.
4. Limited options for replacement radio (mine is the Mylink version)


So, in an effort to fix all the things I don't like without a lot of spend... I am looking at a Android auto compatible rear view mirror mount dash cam and rear cam that also has audio streaming capability.


Supposedly this will sync with your smartphone and mirror maps, apps, phone, etc. give you hands free, a forward looking HD camera/DVR, and a rear facing camera which can be displayed in the mirror full time with a wider field of view than a conventional rearview mirror limited by the smallish rear window.



Some of them also feature advance warning and collision avoidance options depending on how fancy you get. It looks like prices vary from about $80.00USD to $150.00USD



No modifications to the factory radio or AC controls are necessary, everything remains stock. Running cables should be the most challenging part of the install from the looks.


I am wondering if there is anything I am missing here. It seems like a no brainer.


Would be a great bonus if this could replace the old rear view mirror entirely and grab power from the existing wiring. I have no need for Onstar. If I disconnect the factory mirror, is there any collateral damage?
