Trunk weatherstrip part number needed
My top trunk weatherstrip by the rear glass keeps falling out of place and seems to be drying up. I do not want to use any silicone or glue of any sort to hold it in place. I would much prefer to purchase a new OEM weatherstrip or just as good. Does anyone know the part number or a source where I can purchase? Pic below... Thanks...

Year? Convertible or coupe? They might be, but, I'd hate to assume they're all the same. Sent from my SM-S921U using Tapatalk |

I have a 2010 coupe. I could not imagine a vert would share the same part number as a coupe but I guess it is possible.

The part number you listed shows it is for a full round uncut weatherstrip for the trunk itself. The one I need is for a very thin stand alone strip that is about 41 1/2" long give or take that sits horizontally right under the rear window. Not the entire trunk weatherstrip piece.

That's the one that glues to the bottom of the glass, right? I've never run into that part number. It may be one of those parts made of unobtainium.
Also, I'm wondering if it's one of those things that comes pre-installed on the glass and isn't available separately? Just speculating. Only way to know for sure is to ask a glass shop or someone who's actually bought a GM back glass for a HT. They sure look like they're on there with more than just a peel and stick application. But I don't know.

It does not touch the glass at all. Far from it. It touches the metal body trim below the glass.

I looked at my 2014 and it's very different. The only seal is attached to the bottom of the rear window.

I stand corrected then. My rear window louvre must've confused me as I could not see that it was attached to the bottom of the rear window. Is there even a part number for this? Or is is unobtainable as member (el ess A) predicted? Looks like silcone or glue of some sort will put it back in it's place and hold it together? However. I cannot see why it would be a one piece part along with the rear window if replacing as it has a channel on the inside and is rubber. There has to be a part number which makes more sense.

Call safelite or what ever glass companies are in your area and ask them, there is a good chance it comes with the replacement glass, they may or may not be able to get it separately.

Ok, although there's no definitive answer here as of yet, there's something about GMSPO that needs to be said. Although I've never been an official parts jockey, I've got over 40 years of buying OTC GM parts and working closely with the GM parts guys, and even having my own setup to look up GM part numbers when my old parts guy was still alive. He gave me his creds (when he shouldn't have) to keep me from bothering him too much.
Could even order parts via SPAC if it wasn't in local warehouses. PITA, but it helped a few times.GM does not service every part on a vehicle. Some are considered "standard" parts like fasteners, corrugated wire looms, etc. Some are specific parts. And SOME parts are part of an assembly. Some are even labeled "NS", aka, not serviced. They may have part numbers cast or stamped on the individual assembly parts, but that's just used in engineering and the parts vendor to put together the right assembly. The parts aren't necessarily available separately. One example of this is plastic brake master cylinder reservoirs that come with new rubber seals to the master cylinder itself. BUT- the seals are NOT available separately. Buy the resi and you get the seals. That's the only way you can purchase the seals. This is what I believe is the case with this secondary trunk seal. My seal too looks like Parts Peddler's. Here's a pic of the 2010 I took just a bit ago. Ew, I gotta clean out that gutter. WTF.

Correct, I worked at a Well respected GM dealer in the 90's and this was common, most of after work were allowed to use the shop and a lot of us were rebuilding Camaros back then and ran into this often. We used books a lot back then to look up parts and the diagrams were much better than the ones they put out today.

Mine started coming off at the driver side corner. I got a tube of black silicone sealent and used the smallest nozzle to get the silicone in the track of the weather striping.. THen held it in place with tape for about a day. Works great . No sealent ozzed or leaked out. I had to do this on my Crown Vic years ago as well lol. On my 93 Trans Am , I replaced the whole piece that went around the outside of the whole back hatch window. GM called it a "Window Lacing" back then. Not sure if that piece could be called the same?
