2014 Camaro ss clutch
I’m having an issue where my slave cylinder messed up and went to replace it with a new slave cylinder and new clutch I went to bleed them and the fluid started coming out black when bleeding the cylinder and the clutch wasn’t wanting to engaged after putting new fluid

Your clutch master cylinder is likely also toast from the contaminants, debris, etc that is present throughout the clutch hydraulics system. This is such a common issue, but for some folks (like yourself), I guess your clutch hydraulics and their seals were strong enough to hold up to that. Most people in this forum either already knew of, or came to know of the "Ranger" method, which is more or less a way of just siphoning out old brake/clutch fluid, and then cycling in fresh, new fluid.
Most people in here who are meticulous about this and do preventative maintenance, will not only usually get a separate/remote clutch fluid reservoir, but also have a habit of cycling through new clutch fluid every few months, or at least once a year (maybe on every engine oil change). How nasty was your clutch fluid itself? Like just darkened but still fairly clear and transparent? Or was the clutch fluid murky, kinda opaque/non-clear looking and maybe with bits of debris floating in it? I will say this though, I started having like 2-3 random clutch master cylinder failures, but my clutch slave cylinder had also been intermittently affected the whole time. I had a rip in the main green-colored dust cover/boot, that wraps around the main CSC. This led to debris and all sorts of other things (on top of the already naturally occurring clutch dust/debris) making it's way into the CSC and it's seals, and through the clutch line, back into the clutch fluid (or shared brake fluid reservoir, if you don't have a remote/separate fluid reservoir)... https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showt...php?p=11497107 |
