Hi,

I am just starting to put together the parts for the LSA swap onto my LS3. I have a res and pump but I am missing the Heat ex changer. I am leaning towards a Afco unit but would like to hear others thoughts.

If I go Afco fans or no fans? I have read pros and cons but mostly on Mustang forums. Are the fans really loud? I don't think that is something I would want to hear all the time.

May add a cam down the road but I am assuming power with LSA swap would be in the 500 to 550 Range?

When i had the afco with fans installed on my zl1 it would keep the ait2 about 13 degrees above ambient temperature while cruising. I can’t say what it would be without the fans. The fans are loud but you wouldn’t hear them when you’re are driving. They tap into the intercooler pump power wire, so anytime the pump is on the fans are on. I had it set up in the tune to turn on both with acc on. That way it still run while the engine is off to continue cooling.

I am not exactly sure how much the heat will affect a street car, Wondering if the extra wires/clutter and noise is worth it or not. I am assuming the more power and the harder you are on the car the more the fans would be needed. My car would not typically be in a stop and go traffic type situation either.

Fit like it belonged on the car. I don’t exactly remember what I did for the mounting holes or if they were there but since it was for a zl1 it definitely fit.

I have the prospeed heat exchanger. It's good.
If I were in the market again I'd get that or I'd hit up Cordes Performance Racing and see what offerings they have for the 5th gen.
