Forward thinking on parts

In short, I don't like doing things twice, so I'm trying to be thoughtful with everything I do to this car. Right now the motor is stock other than long tubes, CAI, and tune. Eventually, It'll probably be a heads/cam kind of build, then blown. That's possible long term progression. But for the moment, I'm just looking at exhaust. Have been debating Corsa sport. vs Xtreme. First debate is if Xtreme is gonna be too loud. I know, subjective. But I've also noticed the. Xtreme setup is a 3" pipe and the Sport is a 2.5" pipe. That's where my question comes in.

When the motor gets built up, will I see that much performance difference between 2.5 and 3? I doubt I'll ever invest enough to get beyond 500-550whp. So, not sure how much diff it'll make. And if I do end up with 3" pipes, I'm gonna want to cut off the step down on the cats to have 3" all the way.

FWIW, I felt my car had the best sound and volume at headers, hi flow cats, and then the stock 2.5" NPP.

When I decided to go blown, I ditched the hi flow cats and after a few iterations trying to get a sound I liked, I ended up with a cobbled together 3" through an x-pipe all the way back until it sleeves back down to 2.5" right before the NPP mufflers.

It's not perfect and it's pretty obnoxious at WFO, but I can still manually close the NPP flaps to tone it down when I want to.

For me, I already had the Borla Type S which is a 2.5" kit. My setup is rather tame sounding with this exhaust.

I did a pair of 3" QTP low profile cutouts about 2' past the turbos (right in the bend before turning in. Everything past the cutout is the Borla Type S as designed.

My cutouts are operated with the garage door opener, 1 button to open, one button to close.

I have neighbor friendly exhaust and Wild and radical sound at the push of a button.

I would go with the Sport kit and use cutouts for max sound and performance.

That's a beautifully clean setup. How badass loud is it when open? Do I see a twin turbo setup too?

I have on my Camaro the Corsa ZL1 Sport catback, and it is 3" all the way from the headers back, no cats, just an off road connection at the headers. 1 7/8 SP LT's. It is very loud at idle, and WOT. The sport mufflers and a bit bigger/longer than the Extreme mufflers if you look at them. Plus the ZL1 system is a quad setup, vs the Extreme is a single tip. If I want it louder I have like slow's system, the QTP low profile cutouts located the same place as his, except mine are turned towards the outside of the car, where his are turned inwards. The Corsa system is the only setup I have had on the car that actually has ZERO drone at cruising speeds. Pretty quiet until you romp on it!

I would like to do similar. Only thing is I have the GFX kit, which I want to keep. Limits my exhaust tip choices. So, I need a single tip system and can't go too big with them to fit through the GFX ports.

Ahhh gotcha. Yeah you are limited on the tips that will fit in there. And with the Corsa ZL1 mufflers, you can't just cut off the tips and install a single tip because there are two outlets on the mufflers. You'll probably like the Extreme kit then, at least on it if you need to you can cut the tip off and install a tad smaller one. Good luck in your choice.

Mine kind of similar to JEWLD's, I went with 17/8 LT's, with 3 inch Retro chambered catback by stainless works , No cats or resonators and it barks when you stomp on it but its great at cruising speeds , no drone at all!

Thanks!

It's not as loud as you would expect, the turbos do a good job of muffling the sounds and just make whistles instead.

I loved my NA setup. SP 1 7/8 longtubes, no cats into factory NPP catback. Was pretty loud at idle and WOT but still had the availability to close valves. Had minimal drone with valves open and no drone valves closed. Still run the factory NPP.

I wouldn't be afraid of running the 2.5in Corsa sport. Extremes with longtubes is LOUD but sounds great.

Food for thought my car FBO made 462whp. Heads cam made 513whp. Now makes a hair over 800whp all through the factory NPP catback thats 2.5in.

Yeah one of my buds that has a ZL1 has the Stainless Works system you have, and LT's, and yes it sounds pretty good! He loves it, I almost went with that one too.

I have the Corsa Xtreme. I also have long tube headers with no cats and am also cammed. It is so freaking loud, it is insane. I really wish I could come up with some sort of valved setup, so I could also have a quiet mode sometimes. I love how the exhaust sounds, just wish I could quiet it down sometimes.

I also have the GFX on my car. I simply ordered the Corsa Xtreme kit that was made for GFX cars, comes with no tips. Corsa are one of the few companies that makes exhaust for GFX owners. All of my other exhaust setups, I had to hack the tips off of brand new kits, which sucked of course.

I have the GM GFX kit on mine. I have LT's, Catless connections, and the 3" Corsa Xtreme. The GFX version comes with no tips, fits perfect in the GFX. Sometimes I wish there was a tip on it but mostly it looks fine. sounds great. Before the Corsa, i had the Borla and i loved that too but the Corsa is badass

You may be able to find the MBRP tips for the GFX kit.
I am trying to source black ones and only tyhe left one is available, so I may be flipping one to make it work.
These tips were designed for the GFX kit and are the right size and have the correct bevel manufactured in to them so thatt they will look right.
