LLT V6 Coolant Pressure Test - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hi Guys - has anyone done a coolant pressure test on an LLT (V6) engine. I borrowed a test kit from the local auto parts store and tried the relevant caps for testing. HOWEVER, when pressurizing the system, the pressure and coolant goes to the coolant recovery tank, which of course is not pressurized. Has anyone tried this on their LLT engine, and what did you do to pressurize it without the pressure going into the coolant recovery tank. The reason I'm pressure testing is because it seems I have to add about a pint of coolant about every 6 mos. The car has about 36,000 miles. (Yeah, LOW miles for a 2010)

Hi,
I have never checked myself. I have 2011 LLT with 32K on it. I changed out the coolant and put on a new cap. Just been sitting for now.

You'll have to block the line to the overflow. But that might be your leak.

I wouldn't think of this a test. This is more to look for leaks with the system under pressure but not hot and noisy.
