Highway pull, just revved

2011 Camaro SS automatic. 415 stroker, blower, 3600 stall, 3.91 gears, Eaton tru trac.

Driving home today, when I hit the highway I wanted to do a little pull. I was probably doing around 50 mph in Drive and I stomped the gas and the car just revved up to 5000 rpms and I let off. I cruised for about 15 seconds and tried again and the same thing happened.
I have an aftermarket trans dipstick and I will check the fluid tomorrow. If levels check out okay, what should I look into next? The car drives and shifts fine and never has done this before.

Uneducated observation but I experienced this (and still kinda working it out) when I accidentally set the trans adapt preset and reset the fast adapt learn via hp tuners. I managed to get 1, 2 and 3rd gear to shift correctly via the former option and doing WOT pulls. I reckon it's something to do with torque management in the TCM in your case but like I said, it's a uneducated observation.

Sounds like you have overpowered the transmission, and the clutches are worn out causing the trans to slip.

Sounds like you just found out your "flash stall point" on your converter. you are running a 3600 I see, which would be your "break stall speed" where you stand on the brakes and gas at the same time, and at 3600 the tires should break loose and spin, when you romp on it while driving, keeping your foot in it, the converter will "flash" up in the RPM's, then the trans will downshift to whatever gear it thinks it should be in, and haul the mail!! I have a 4500 stall in mine and when I romp on it, flashes at 6400, keep your foot in it, it will downshift to 3rd gear at 50 mph, and pull like a train and upshift according to what your tuner has the shift point RPM's set to shift. I learned about all this here on the forum when I first started using a high stall converter..

Read through here, some great info...

I'm pretty sure it usually flashes, grabs and goes and this time it just revved high. I was worried to stay into it. The car doesn't get driven much and usually does not get driven hard.

Okay, it's definitely a flash. I just don't remember it taking "that long". I stayed in it, revved to 5000 and it engaged and took off.

Cool. Yeah when you get on it kind of hard, but not WOT, it also will flash, but not as high, when you get on it at WOT, it will flash to it's highest point, then downshift and lock up for the pull. Mine does all that. Have fun, and enjoy the "new" stall speed feelings!! Pretty cool.
