For those that remember the red RS with sunroof thread, the information for the raffle that is being held in August 2009 has been posted online. I'm not affiliated in any way with the Lions Club or the raffle but thought I'd pass along the information since they were kind enough to post the entry form on their website when I asked them to.
Tickets are $100 each. Total of 700 will be sold. As of earlier this week, they had sold about 75 so there are still plenty available. http://rochesterlionsclub.org/Fundra...ro_raffle.html Only buy a ticket if you can afford it and don't mind donating $100 to their cause. Or buy a ticket so you can dream that you'll win the car and hopefully force yourself to wait until August to avoid dealer-markups when you go buy one because you didn't win the raffle.

If only it was an SS. Then I'd happily donate. Where I would find 100 bucks though I haven't the foggiest.

Yes. Tickets are $100 each. If you win, you will be responsible for paying tax, title, and licensing for the vehicle. Keep in mind, like most prizes valued over $599, they will likely be required to submit a form to the IRS indicating the approximate retail value of the prize, which you will need to add to your income for the year and pay income taxes on. So, yes, you could win the car for $100 but you'll end up paying probably another 25% of the value of the car in income taxes, depending on your personal tax situation (consult a CPA).
For me, I usually just look at these raffles as part of my giving back to charities that pass along the money to other people in need. Each year, I find 2 raffles that sell a limited number of tickets for $100 each where the prize is a car. I've been doing it since I was 18 and will probably continue to do so until I die. Have I won yet? Nope, but that isn't the reason I participate. If I win, it's a bonus and I'd probably just take an equivalent amount of money as the prize and donate it back to the charity. My other raffle I bought a ticket for this year is one hosted by a Rotary Club chapter near Seattle. They are giving away a restored 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air on Monday. |

It'd make a nice trade-in on a SS. Bump
