Installed new K&N air intake today :) - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Just spent a couple of hours this afternoon installing the K&N CAI. Pretty easy install. Fits perfectly, all is well, road tested it. It sounds fantastic, sound is real throaty now and blends perfect with the 3" Magnaflow Comp Series exhaust. It looks so much better than stock. You can really feel the power gain too, around 18hp (at least according to K&N). It'll be dynoed tuned soon, so we'll find out, anyway I'm loving it! I don't think you'll be disappointed if this is the intake you choose. K&N took a long time on this one and I believe it paid off. Can't wait to get the car on the track with the goodies on it now.

What type of filter does K&N use? I read somewhere that paper is inferior to cotton?

Add some Zmax and Splitfires and you'll be pushing 30+rwhp total gain.

Don't believe everything your read. I'm sure you'll be happy with it though.

They use a K&N filter of course

. IIRC, it is oiled cotton.

Now that you bought it. Look at the filter. See all those holes??? Those are HOLES. What does a whole filter? Nothing. Now in 5000 miles look on the other side of your air filter and see the trail of dirt going into where??? Into your engine. Think about it when you purchase a cotton gauze filter with holes in it. Look into the Amsoil replacement for the hole filter.

Bullshit! I have been running these for like 10 years on all kinds of cars. Your just trying to get a plug in for some lame Amsoil thing sorry i have never heard of it. BUT im sure EVERYBODY has heard about K&N weird.....

They need to buff up the diameter of the piping for anyone to seriously consider purchasing the Injen piece.

Looks like it came right out of the Acura/Honda parts bin.

And 21wrhp? That's the most I've heard yet from any intake.

Dyno the package or it's just more dust in the wind.
