Camaro stripe question...

In the brochure for the Camaro, it said that stripes would be available in Cyber Gray Metallic, or White. I was asking around about the stripe colors, and someone told me that you could get any other color from the dealer. Are these colors that you can get from the dealer legit, GM accessories, or are they some kind of aftermarket thing?

They would have to be GM accessories since they are from GMPP. I haven't heard you would be able to get "any other color" but I did hear a few other colors would be available from GMPP. Personally I'm making my own. I'm leaning hard toward carbon fiber looking vinyl on my Yellow Camaro

Good, cause I really wanted a cyber gray Camaro w/ black stripes, or silver w/ black. BTW, carbon diber stripes =

Weren't the 60's & 70's painted on? I didn't realize they were available as vinyl decals. Input here?

Yes...but back then there wasn't any other option. Today there is another cheaper way of doing it.

Anything a dealer does may not reflect GM input. A dealer can put rims, tires, and aftermarket parts on the Camaro without GM consent. The stripe options granted by dealers may not all be GMPP vinyls.

Vinyl decals? Oh damn, they'll wear off in a year during one winter :(

Aren't they going to offer painted ones?

Don't know yet. Most pinstripes on todays cars are vinyl and they last more than a year. It all depends on what grade vinyl was used. I have cheap vinyl that will only last a year and then I have higher grade that will last 7 years outdoor. Spray a little clear coat over it and it will last as long as the original paint.
