Daydreaming *Camaro Racecar*

Ok so lets think about building the Camaro rep. The Corvette became infamous in my opinion by whooping the europeans at their own game with the C5R, and then once again with the C6R. We need a Camaro to root for. Maybe a Camaro GT3, drift car something where we could kick the pants off some M powers, AMGs, Nizmos, STIs, whoever shows up. Different though, not your traditional drag races.

AMLS it's the only way to be taken seriously outside north america (as far as production car racing goes), as long as it qualifies for Lemans. I would love to see that, I'm a fan of Lemans. If they could get the same pit crew as corvette they would have a serious advantage over the other cars. You know what else alms could cause homologation, that is the most beautiful word in the automotive industry, if they decided things needed to be tweaked or changed they would have to produce a comparable production model, hence the changes in the C6 from the C5 with the headlights and larger grill opening.

I am a bit of a fan of rally racing and as such I find drift racing a bit of a joke. Yeah there are some good drift racers but it's easy compared to doing the same thing on an inconsistent surface with elevation changes and real roads against a clock.

You must be a young whippersnapper. Why I remember back in the day Corvettes were winning races all over the world...Uphill...In the rain...Both ways
Corvette has a rich racing history from WAY back. I can't imagine the Gov't making GM drop it. Bastards.

“The C5-R will be remembered like no other Corvette in history because it was the first ever official factory Corvette race car,” said Doug Duchardt, director of GM Racing.

I think the C5r was the first serious attempt by the factory to make a "World Class" race car.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to belittle their accomplishments, amazing to say the least. But the key word in that article is "official". GM has unofficially been backing race teams and building race cars as far back as I can recall having an interest in cars (the 60's) and beyond....Unofficially...If anyone asks, you didn't hear it from me.

Now, for the Camaro, it also has a rich racing (and winning) history.... and unofficially backed by GM
