SL65 AMG vs ZR1

AMG speaks for its self 670 HP V12, 738 lb·ft of torque wow I and I think the weight is similar to the vette I think, and this 7-speed transmission

The new MCT transmission is essentially the 7G-Tronic transmission without a torque converter. Instead of a torque converter, it uses a compact wet startup clutch to start the car off, and also supports computer-controlled double declutching. The MCT (Multi-Clutch Technology) acronym refers to a planetary (automatic) transmission’s multiple clutches and bands for each gear.[1]

The MCT is fitted with four drive modes: “C” (Comfort), “S” (Sport), “S+” (Sport plus) and “M” (Manual) and boasts 100 millisecond shifts in "M" mode. the new car features the new AMG DRIVE UNIT with innovative Race Start function. The AMG DRIVE UNIT is the central control unit for the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission and all driving dynamics functions. The driver can change gears either using the new AMG selector lever with its leather/ carbon-fibre finish, or by nudging the AMG steering-wheel shift paddles. The new Race start Function is a launch control system which enables the SL 63 AMG driver to call on maximum acceleration, while ensuring optimum traction of the driven wheels. A modified version of the SL 63 is the safety car for the 2008 Formula One season.

For a V12 its not a bad price too kinda............ (lets see what the NSX will do)

Will the ZR1 stack up to this

The SL65 weighs over 4500 pounds. The ZR1 is like 3300 or 3400. The SL65 is a cool car, but performance wise ZR1 > SL65.

They are just two different beasts.

Werd. It's nice looking but it's not the same type of car. I'm sure it's fast and all, but still.. 4500 pounds. Small SUV weight.

Yeah, ZR1 is much lighter than that Mercedes...

Performance wise it'll kill the SL65AMG

Also the stats already indicate so... the SL65AMG does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds (ZO6 & base corvette are quicker than that) and does the quarter in high 11's or 12's.

ZR1 does 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and the quarter in like mid to high 11's...

The SL65 is a heavy luxury car with crazy power. The ZR1 is a full out supercar.

And I'm sure the ZR1 will run mid 11s with driver's from Road and Track and Car and Driver who don't know what they are doing, granny shift, and race with a full tank in 100 degree heat. However, given the power to weight, the ZR1 has the potential to run mid 10s and trap near 140 mph with a good driver in good air.
