Scratch Remover

I have come about a couple scratches of varying depth throughout the paint on the car, and I have no idea which product to pick up to remove them. I stopped by walmart and looked around and decided on Nu Finish Scratch Doctor to test out (luckily I can return it for full refund if I don't like it). Are there any products y'all would recommend?

I like the scratch X 2.0. I usually take my PC out to remove them from the clear coat though.

I used maguires scratch x also. It worked well and was easy to use.

What I'm wondering is how agressive these types of products are? How much of my clear coat did I take off to get the scratch out? Does it take a while to get thru the clear coat with scratch x ?

Your removing microns on clear coat. Usually no more than .5-1 micron to remove a light scratch. *most* clear coats are 50-80 microns thick - this is only from what I have read on other forums, there is no guarantee your clear coat is even 20 microns thick, if you have a few thousand dollars you can invest in a micrometer to find out

How deep is it if you can catch it with your fingernail ? I removed a scratch just enought so you don't see it anymore, but I can still find it. I didn't want to wear out the clear coat.

If you can feel it with your fingernail its probably too deep to completely remove without wet sanding. Unless its all the way down to the base coat (you can usually tell if its that deep) its likley removable with wet sanding. I wouldnt recommend trying to wetsand on your new camaro. Take it to a detailer or body shop to get those removed unless your familliar with the process.

ScratchX took it out , but I didn't want effect the sorrounding areas so I left some of it in. I can't see the base coat, but before I strated I could feel the scratch (more like a swirl) catch with my fingernail. So I was wondering how deep that might be because I don't want to wear out my clear.

As other's have hinted at, you might consider visiting a reputable detailer if the "home remedies" aren't working to your satisfaction.

Most detailers will have experience with different polishes, different pads (ie; degrees of abrashion), and the equipment to remove most swirls/scratches.

Based on personal experience, when detailing cars, I could remove most swirls/scratches by hand, but after investing in a random orbital buffer and different pads, etc., they don't stand a chance now.

Look around and ask for experiences with different detailers in your area.
