I love my 1SS/RS. As far as your back is concerned, your back really shouldn't be affected by the ride...mine's not, in fact I wish it was even more stout! I will say one thing though, because of your back, make sure you get a good lumbar roll. As dumb as this may sound, the BEST one I ever came up with is roll of those blue shop towel paper towels!!!!!!!! I've tried, bought, and made every kind under the sun, and the shop towel roll is far and away the best!!! Good luck

if I understand it correctly, you can get the 1LT with the C&C package which includes the ipod interface and bluetooth but you cannot get that in the 1SS, I don't know if that matters to you, but it might be a consideration.

This question comes up all the time on the forums. Get ready for the, "Get the 2SS/RS. Anything less and you'll regret it" responses.

I have a 1SS that I am very happy with. The ride is surprisingly smooth on rougher roads. Tightens up nicely at higher speeds though.
Doesn't have all of the bells and whistles....but has all of the horses......

I'm totally happy w/ my 1SS, didn't need or want the 2SS stuff.

V6 vs. V8 should be your only real concern here. I drove both before I ordered and am very glad I got my 1SS. After the first 6 months of fun-shock, I think I would have regretted a V6 purchase.

The only reason I didnt get the 2SS was because I do not like leather interior... never have. Now if your decision to get the 2LT is based on the iPod features, you may want to check out those side effects as well... Plenty of complaints about the ineptness of the iPod interface. (flamesuit on)

XM resolved my iPod woes. But when it comes down to it, you still have the input jack and the 12V access for the iPod in a 1SS. And the best part is, my iPod works better without the iPod interface in the 2LT or 2SS.

Over time, you will be much happier with a 1SS purchase. (The permagrin power-trip you will experience, will make you forget all about the V6 iPod concept and you will just listen to the growl of your V8) But if you really want the iPod interface and all the bells, drop the extra 2K and get the 2SS. Suspension, works great in a 1SS!!

Note: I paid 31K for my 1SS/RS, M6, Sunroof After your XM expires in 90 days, wait 3 weeks, you will get a "special invitation" for a $74 renewal, half off the annual price for full XM. XM rocks over iPod collections, but you can always plug in your iPod to your 1SS and continue to Jam to your favs. I do.

Good Luck with your decision. It's still a Chevy!

The heated seats always help a bad back. LOL.

Get what you want to man. Gotta be like 5 grand cheaper to get the 1lt. Insurance is higher, permium gas, etc with the SS.

1SS hands down! The clutch is not heavy at all in the 1SS. Test drove one today, if you are used to stick cars and V8's in general it's comfortable and for many will be too light actually. The ride is very nice, quiet, solid and definitely not too harsh. I think your back will be fine. Compared to a Z51 Corvette or C5 Z06 it feels like a Cadillac. The 1SS is one of the greatest bargains of any performance car out today.

How badly do you need the V8? Get in a V6 and drive it hard. If it isn't enough, then you need a V8. If it is enough, then you're set. Later, you can add some performance parts and shoot for 400 hp.

I'm on board with everything you said! Exactly why I didn't get the 2SS as well.

Thanks for the XM info... I've been without for a couple weeks, and I kinda miss it. I'll be checkin the mail!
