No more ground effects on 2010 Camaro

So I finally ordered my Camaro on February 26th and when I was choosing my options I wanted the ground effects package but it seems that GM decided to cancel the option on Tuesday February 23rd. Was kinda disappointed because I really think the ground effects looks great, guess im gonna have to go look for aftermarket. If you goto the GM website and build a Camaro the ground effects option is also removed now.

welcome to the site! Congrats on your order. Don't be too worried about the GM GFX as there are PLENTY of cool GFX packages (as you mentioned)! Just search around the site and you'll see some very cool stuff!

Good luck!

But did GM stop making the GFX package? Maybe its just not an available option (sunroof, rs package, 21'' wheels, etc).

The GFX was always (right?) a dealer installed option (not done at the factory).

I have a feeling GM will just add it to something that needs to be ordered through the parts department and added on after the fact.

yeah dont think they will get rid of it they are probably gonna keep it as a dealer option. the only thing they should do is paint it to match so you dont have to go through the hassle of doing yourself. its also a bit overpriced but its the best gfx kit out there not too bold but looks really nice. if you go to www.gmpartsdirect.com its only$1606 and plus a fee of like 15 dollars and right now i talk to a guy and they said its free shipping on it also im bout to order it myself but im gonna get the revolutionss hood first. hope this helps

Yay! Fewer, heavier, slower Camaro`s being whipped by 2011 Mustang GT`s... You boys w/ the 22 inch wheels, ground effects and sunroofs are making us look bad at the racetrack now, 2011 will be worse...:(

the dealer I talked to said that he talked with GM and they said that it would be made available through the parts department and said that the price should stay the same, but that it still comes as grey.

I'm hoping they will offer the kit that was on the Leno & Dusk concepts.

The factory GFX were not cancelled. Some dealers were taking shortcuts and not installing the front GFX properly, causing them to have a poor fit or to fall off in some cases. These failures were often charged to warranty when the dealer should have been picking up the cost to replace for improper installation. As a result, GM is working on a slight redesign to make the GFX easier to install, increasing the odds the dealers will do this right. Not cancelled...just not taking new orders for 4 to 6 weeks until the new design is validated.

Strange as I see it on both the public GM website build tool. As well as the supplier website.

Have not heard anything about this.. I am sure someone here on the forum can enlighten us.. I am about to order soon as well.
So we shall see.. It saves me $2000 if I cannot order it.. But I'd really like to have it ...

Thanks for letting us know of that potential change.. Which might turn out being no change at all.. but we'll see.. I heard that Ground FX were on a constraint on a differet tread a while ago.. for about 4 weeks.. So that might be all...

go check out gmcanada.com and build a camaro, the gfx option has been removed from the site, I also ordered my car yesterday and could not add the option to the build. I had also heard that there were some issues with pieces falling off just like Hopper said so he could be right that they are just redesigning the kit.

Does anyone know how much the GFX package weighs? Being someone that likes to race, I'm always concerned about added weight.
