Anyone worried about factory wheels and tires?

So far I have bought 2 sets of wheel locks and hate them both. First set bought on ebay and turned out to be open head (expected to be covered).

Second set bought local and broke the first one installed while torquing.

I have now removed them all. Was I over-reacting. My run flats for my Z4 are over $300 each just for the rubber. The car is usually parked safe.

Not sure where seminole florida is, but a family member is an officer in miramar fl (so fla) and about a week ago 5 camaros got hit, they took wheels and tires. some were left on blocks, others just laid back on the ground. I work a few cities north and also an officer, I havent heard of any calls in our city about camaros with stolen wheels yet.

I got my locks from the dealer, they dont sell you just the four locks, they sell you all the lugs so the price is alot more then what you would pay else where. I didn't have a problem putting them on or breaking when they were tightened.

good luck.

I do worry about it some. I currently park my car in a pretty safe private lot, but will be moving in a month and parking it in a more exposed area.

I would love to see some recommendations for locks.

why worry about stock wheels when they're on the shelf and your rolling on 22inch wheels instead... j/k
stock wheels are not on top of my list of things to worry about, more importantly some jackass stealing the entire car is more of a concern... face it a thief will steal the entire car before jacking it up 2x (nascar style) to take the wheels off. more likely to get caught too.

You'll be fine ... I'm in the same town and have had no problems with either of my 5th Gens ...

Just did a quick search, and Gorilla's "The System" seems like a nice choice.

I think I'm just gonna go for it and spend $60 and put these on the first weekend of April when I put my 20" rims back on.

If you don't want to spend 60 bucks try your local discount tire. The one here in albuquerque had the same gorilla's for 17 dollars, keep in mind that was just the 4 locks but they seem to work just fine.

I use Gorrilla locks on my wheels. I know of several guys that have had their stock wheels stolen.

You can get the covers at Eckler's or your Chevy dealer. Just take one in so they can get the right cover. They screw right on the open locks.

Thanks. Appreciate the info. I will probably buy the set of 4 gorilla locks when I get a chance. Mostly for piece of mind.
