went to the track for the first time in the camaro

my first pass in the camaro while leaving on the built in launch control:

R/T ... .642
60' ... 2.147
330 ... 5.854
1/8 ... 8.807
MPH ... 84.29
1000 ... 11.334
1/4 ... 13.443
MPH ... 106.64

Done at Atlanta Dragstrip in Commerce.... track around 800 ft above sea level and done on street tires. I guess its not bad.

Nice first run! I tried out LC for the first time at the track today as well. Best 60' with it on was 2.155 and without was 2.132. It was packed today so I only got 4 runs in. Did you let off Clutch fast or ease off slow? Tires spin or engine bog? I'm still new as this was only my second time racing at the track. Best run was with LC on, 13.022 @113.52 - 68F almost in the 12 sec stock club.

Also, are you trapping in 3rd or shifting into 4th? Sorry for all questions. Still learning

I slip the clutch some. I'm finishing in 4th....shifting around the 1000ft. I'm expecting better e/t and MPH when I make it to a lower elevation track like silver dollar or Carolina.

I'm goin to try and shift into fourth next time I go because I'm hitting rev limiter at the finish (right at or right before - too close to tell). I'd say u should try holding 3rd a couple times and see how it works for u. The track I was at is I thnk maybe 68 feet above sea level. 13.4 at 800ft is fast. I also found I was a tad slower shifting at around 6300 vs around 6000 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. But I only tried the higher rpm shifting 1 time so could have been user error or getting out of engine powerband too much. Hoping to try again in a couple weeks.

I have never raced a car. I am signed up to hit the track at C5fest so I am reading threads trying to learn.

Silly question: Are you running all out ie petal on the floor after each shift? I have the L99 so I guess there will be a difference in how to run...

With an automatic tranny never let off the gas. Pull around the water box , back your cars tires to where its damp , do a small burnout to clean the tires off. Pull up to the black boxes on the side of the track to pre-stage (first yellow bulb) then creep into the next bulb (stage bulb) have the car in drive and on the last yellow bulb on the tree FLOOR IT! Then let off after you see the last orange box at the end of the track.

Not a silly question. I have a manual tranny and have lifted off the gas while shifting each time. As stated above, for the auto all u really do is stage up, preload for a sec before u let off brake and stay in it till the end. From what I hear u also should have it in sport mode and let car shift itself.
