AAC DRL Connectors vs. Adaptive Performance Harness

Sorry for the duplicate post, but was hoping someone could help with an answer. Sent email to Adaptive Perf, but haven't heard back yet.

Seems subtle, but please clarify if someone knows. AAC connectors offered on website for $9, once installed: DRL 'ON' = halo + park lights 'ON' and vice-versa, regardless of time of day or headlamp switch position.

Adaptive Perf harness once installed: DRLs 'ON' + halo + park lights 'OFF' in headlamp switch auto position (daylight.) DRLs 'ON' + halo + park lights 'ON' with headlamp switch in parking lamps or headlamps position (daylight.) At night, DRLs = 'ON' since other lights will be 'ON.'

Does this sound right, or can anyone with either setup confirm this is what they have found?

Thanks.

They both do the exact same thing, the only difference is the Adapt Performance harness is plug and play whereas the AAC Kit you have to tap into the factory wires using T-Taps.

From my understanding...no they are NOT exactly the same as far as functionality goes.

Only difference: with the harness you can still run the DRLs without halos or headlights. With the AAC connectors, your DRLs and halos will ALWAYS be on.

I think with the AAC your side marker lights will always be on when the DRLs are on also...

AAC uses a T tap to splice into the side marker circuit to power the halos. This also means that the halos power the front side markers during daylight driving. The possibility of a power backfeed has also been discussed, although no problems of this nature have been reported. It has been assumed that the Adaptive harness is using diodes to prevent powering the side markers but is still unknown if the backfeed issue is addressed with their product. Adaptive has been unavailable to give us specifics of it's design. Please see http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...40#post1547340 to have your concerns addressed.

any complaints from the folks using the AAC harness. I mean, come on, for $9 it's got to be too good to be true..... right?????

cheaper just to buy a little bit of 16ga wire and a couple t taps and i'll tell you the colors to tap.. you could do exactly what i did for $9 for about $1.50

Got a brand new one, never installed, for sale if anyone is interesed. I went a different route due to the long delay between ordering it and receiving it. Asking $38, which is what I paid and will include shipping to lower 48 states. Can ship out Monday morning to you. PM if interested.

Update: Item has been sold.

I have the Adaptive Harness (as I didn't want to tap into the wiring) and the DRLs are always on with or without headlights on Auto or manual - there is no on/off option.

I am switching to fieldgoal00's wired harness as it provides a relay to the fuse box which protects your wiring system. Link = http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96996

There have been posts that the way the other harness works may have the potential to create a feedback surge which could threaten your electrical system so that's why many of us are switching.

Note that fieldgoal00 also sells a wireless option which allows for turning the DRLs on & off. Link = http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96996

I too switched from the Adaptive harness, never installed, to fieldgoal00's wired harness and it is a great product. Not to mention fieldgoal00's customer service is excellent.

So I've got a question... I' bought aac led drl, and one of them have already burnt out due to me not wiring in the aac harness that is supposed to protect the bulbs?

I also have a adaptive performance harness... Now my question is, if I use the adaptive harness in conjunction with the aac led drl bulb, will the harness protect the bulb the same way the aac harness does?

I'm confused on this issue.

Thanks for the help

Cool, thanks... I was just leary about splicing into the factory harness... Thanks again. So I don't need to use the free harness that comes with the led drl?
