Magnaflow Comp Series 16580 installed on my L99

I have logged 100 miles with this system and wanted to share my thoughts. I purchased this system from Jordan at Magnaflowplus.com, great service and even better pricing. I ordered the system on Sunday and it was delivered on Wednesday. This system rocks! deep muscle car growl when in the gas but almost a quite as the stock exhaust at part throttle. I am happy to report that there is no drone of any kind even with AFM enabled. I was nervous about purchasing this system due to AFM. With AFM engaged the pitch is a little deeper than stock but no where near the comments I have read on the forum (fart can and ricer). There is slight hum if you listen for it but nothing more than stock. I would also like to comment on the 5" tips, the look great and I have received several compliments. They say "this car means business." I would also like to thank forum member Dano for taking the time to answer my questions regarding this system. And most of all thank's to my awesome wife for the great b-day present!

Ive got the comp series catback as well. I paired to Kooks long tubes with high flow cats. Perfect fit, even better sound. Congratulations on your set up.

16850 shows to be for a 5.7L Megacab dodge? Did you mean 16580 since that is for a Camaro?

I just got my 16579 from JDP at magnaflowplus.com as well. It took 4 days to get it, and the price was RIDICULOUSLY GOOD!

I went with the street system as I don't want it that loud.

Congrats OP!

The comp series is not as loud as I was made to believe. My C6 with ARH and Highflow Cats with the factory dual mode exhaust screams. This system is actually tame.

I believe that on your C6. But any set of long tubes, regardless of the manufacturer, is going to be louder with the comp series. No mufflers is going to equal more noise. This is one of the reasons some go with the street series; to tame the noise.

Exactly.

I think the comp series is great. But my GTO would rattle the fillings out of your teeth on a drive and I don't want that anymore. Listened to buddy's G8 with the same system and it is exactly what i wanted.

The comp series is still a geat choice OP, enjoy it!

Yeah, once you add long tube headers to an exhaust it becomes a completely different animal. Even a fairly tame catback can become pretty aggressive.

I had a Corsa catback on my GTO. It sounded just perfect all by itself. But when I added 1 7/8 Kooks headers, it became way too loud for my tastes.

But the Magnaflow Comp is a pretty tame exhaust, but it will still become
quite aggressive with long tubes.

I agree the comp system is tame. I do feel that that car pulls harder in the mid/upper RPM's. I have always felt the stock L99 resonator was a major restriction on A6 cars.

I plan on doing this to my A6. One question, when I get Kooks headers, kooks high flow cat abd then magnaflow, you tear out the resonators correct? So you just have the three items?

I believe that you can order your headers to connect to to the Magnaflow X-pipe.
