we would need to remove the front cover of the steering wheel, i took the plastic cover off the back of the steering wheel and i would think we would need to disconnect the wires attaching the horn air bag etc. im just worried if i detach the power to the air bag if it will go off or go off after i reattach it and possibly turn the key to on

has anyone done this before????????

It wont go off. I removed my wheel a few times already. Never tried to get the grey trim off though.

There is a thread in the DIY section on how to remove the steering wheel. And yes your assumption is correct. You have to completely remove the steering wheel and disassemble the back to remove the bezel.

No you dont, there are a couple holes on the back of the steering wheel. Stick a thin screwdriver or something in there and push, do this on both sides and the airbag "pod" will pop off. make sure you disconnect the battery cause the computer system will freak out if you dont. after the pod comes off you can just pull the trim off. i did this and painted mine red to match my car.

jparker that looks saaweeet. I was thinking about painting some of my interior parts like you did. But im afraid that it may look out of place because of the grey stereo and A/C console. What are your thoughts?

HI J, i see two back tabs at the bottem and two at the sides. i been trying to push them out with a screw driver but to no avail. i dont wat to continuously tugging on the pod in fear i might break something. can you give me a little more detail as to how you removed the pod???? thanks

Adding on to J's instructions.... there are two little holes on the side of the steering wheel between the grey bezel and plastic/rubber steering wheel. on either side where the paddle shift is, these holes look like there are just there for no particular reason, but like J said, if you stick a screwdriver in there, there is a spring like mechinism that releases the pod. quite simple really. remember what J said, disconect the battery berfore doing it yourself.
