Damage on a Factory Order...Advice?

Hey all,

I just recently got my 2LT RS IBM and it has been sweet other than a bit of damage I noticed recently. When you open the passenger door on the rocker panel there is a dent that looks like it was maybe hit by a hammer. The paint is completely fine so it looks like it was done before it was painted. I can't find any other damage. Anyways I took it to the dealer and they took some pictures and said they would call me back, but I'm not sure what to do. I think if it's fixed I will probably have problems down the line with the paint etc. Should I just ask for a discount? A different repair shop I took it to said about 350$ to fix it. Pics attached (first time posting pics hopefully it works).

Someone at the plant musta closed the door on their false titanium leg. I cant believe that passed delivery PDI etc. Take it back and have them repair it properly and be meticulous inspecting it when you get it back. Id be pissed lol.

I just went through this myself see this thread. The posts are mixed but most agree to get it fixed asap. The dealer will have no problem with it.

No mention of it at the dealership. I didn't realize it was there until like a week after I had it.

Well if you can tell there is no paint damage from scrapes or hits, then it had to be there when it was built, they would be responsible to fix it under warranty.. you won't have to pay a dime..

If you like the car in every other way, I'd get it fixed. Especially since it's not an outside panel, where paint match is so critical and easy to tell repairs.

Look how long it took to notice, even with a big dent there. Once it's fixed, it'll be quickly forgotten. An easy fix too. Body shops have these little weld on posts that weld on that spot, and then a puller is used to pull it back out. Then refinish that panel and it will look good as new.

There are some door sill guards if you wanted to dress it up a bit after the repair. If that were an outside body panel, I'd be ticked and not want it fixed. But that spot should repair up perfectly.

I would just make sure to tell them to pull the dent out, not just fill it in. Which I'm sure a quality body shop will use the right procedure, especially on a new car.

How did you not notice that for a week? I hope they fix it for you. They could come back and say you did it. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Definitely have them fix it, your brand new Camaro should not come with a dent.

check into having it done PDR (paintless dent repair) Not sure if they can get access to it but it is worth a shot. On a side note all trim options dont come with sill plates? I assumed sill plates were standard?
