FS section suggestion

Every other forum I've ever been a part of has had some sort of guidelines for their for sale section. IF at all possible, could it be more strictly moderated? I'm not sure if anyone has been ripped off yet, but I'm sure it'll happen eventually.

Could we REQUIRE that members selling items be required to:
1) Have a picture of the item they're selling that they took of the item they are selling.
2) In that same picture, write your CAMARO5 screen name, as well as the date, and what forum (Camaro5.com)
3) Absolutely include a price in the item that is being sold. "Make me an offer" is so annoying. The seller should research how much the item is worth, and in turn should list a price.

This will make the FS section a lot easier on the eyes, as well as eliminate some of the fraudulent (if any) activity from occurring. I really just want to see what I'm buying a lot of the time.

Mods, please consider this, PLEASE!

Change Member Classified Rules

Just a suggestion, but imo, the members classified section is pretty open to scams.

Also you may want to state something along the lines of :
"First and foremost - Buyer beware! Camaro5.com is not liable for any transactions made via the forum."

And here are some rules I think can benefit this forum. Sorry if I posted a suggested rule that is already one.
  • All sellers are required to post at least 1 picture of each item listed in his/her classified ad to verify ownership of said item(s). In doing so, however, the picture must contain a slip of paper with the seller's Camaro5.com username and date, name and date must be clearly visible. While this does not prove without a doubt that the seller owns the said items, it will minimize/reduce the possibility of potential scams. Keep in mind that in these times, not having any access to some sort of digital camera is not an excuse. Any and all threads that do not adhere to this new rule will be deleted without prior notice or warning.
  • No double threads, you get one thread per item. Making multiple threads for the same item in two forums or the same forum will get you a warning, then a ban
  • Each thread must have a price, description and contact method for each item.
  • Do not link to other for sale threads. If you want to post up an item for sale, make sure there is a full description in the thread you created. Threads with links to other threads will be deleted and a warning issued.
  • Combine threads for like areas. If you have 10 items to sell in the engine section, create 1 thread with all 10 items. This will help keep the classifieds less clustered.
  • If your item is sold simply state that it has been sold.
  • No more than 1 daily bump is needed in a thread. Excessive bumping can lead to removal of said thread.
  • No direct linking to Ebay auctions without completely listing all of the details in the thread. If you want to link, copy and paste the auction info at least.
Just my $0.02.. Take it with a grain of salt.

I completely agree! I actually just posted a thread about this and didn't even notice yours!!
I was a member of My350z.com and they did exactly this. I think it benefits everyone, and sifts out the con-artists

It's just annoying to me to see "Fs- wheels, make me an offer". We need some order in there. If you don't follow the rules, the thread gets deleted. I dont see any mods around here ever, so I'm assuming no one cares. Every forum I've ever visited has had the same rules. Even require a certain post count before they're allowed to post in the FS section.

Do they require a certain post count before making suggestions?

jk

This is the only forum I've been on so I'm not sure what the 'Norm' is but I'd say don't buy something if it doesn't have a picture or post a price.

It would make it easier but I just figured it was to my advantage as someone who has sold wheels on there already and have some for sale now.

Actually I think that the seller should research the item and then put a price on it but also list "or best offer". It's definitely helpful. Also, can we have the fs section divided by generation.

1st gen

2nd gen

3rd gen

4th gen

5th gen

1st gen

Suspension
Engine
Transmission
etc.

2nd gen
cars for sale
Suspension
Engine
Transmission
etc.

3rd gen
cars for sale
Suspension
Engine
Transmission
etc.

4th gen
cars for sale
Suspension
Engine
Transmission

5 gen
cars for sale
Suspension
Engine
Transmission
etc.

8thCivic had the same rules, and it helped out a lot. I hate seeing a post in that thread that says "PM me for pics".

Something along the lines of the iTrader rating system on LS1tech.com would be a great addition.
