Talking speed limiter!

Hello, new to the forum, I recently purchased a 2010 2SS in victory red w white stripes, 6sped manual and the 6.2, got a little over 1200 miles on her, found a long straight stretch and let her run, surprized to see that it is speed locked at 155mph. is there a override for this? the speedo goes to 180mph, but the car is locked at 155mph. It is by the funnest car that I have driven to date and I love it. Thanks, Ron Tilley

The speed limiter can be changed by most of the aftermarket tuners. Can't do it without a tuning device though.

First of all, the first responder to your post would be remiss if they didn't remind you not to drive this way on public roads. Not good for anyone.

But, no, you can't remove the speed limiter without a recalibration. And this would as discussed in MANNNNNY threads, void your warranty. Not sure if you would want to void your warranty just to go over 155.

Also, I'd take a serious look at the tires. I don't recall what the speed rating is on the Camaros Pirellis, but I don't believe they are speed rated for more than 155, hence the limiter.

I'm sure others will chime in as this has been discussed many times over the past year. You could probably search and find the information you are looking for.

Unless you have an urgent need to exceed 155 what's the point of disabling the limiter?

The PZero's are good for at least 168 mph. They are either a W rated tire (168mph) or a Y rated tire (186mph). Keep in mind, these tired are typically used on exotics like Lamborghinis, Audi R8s, etc.

If you wait until you have an urgent need, it's too late.
