Angry HIGH GAS PRICES SUMMER 2010 CRUISE PROTEST

We are all aware that as Spring/Summer approaches the gas prices begin to sky rocket, without reason, other than to "hose" the consumer, not to mention US the car enthusiast.
REMEMBER THE HST COMES INTO EFFECT JULY 1, 2010.

It was suggested, on the Corvette Forum, that a physical boycott, rally & cruise be organized for some time this summer. Here is what was posted on the Corvette Forum, and as details emerg this thread will be updated, I suggested a cruise down to Queen's Park. (please don't ask any questions right now, but feel free to post suggestions and I will post between forums. The more forums that take part the better)

Don't forget these politicians are still using full size V8 cars themselves, not to mention the gas guzzling SUVs

Just curious guy's how are you paying back there? Last summer I paid about $1.02 lt for 91 at Costco. Right now it's $1.09. I'm just out of the Translink area. Add 10 cent a lt if your in the Translink tax area. However my "Pumkin" is parked 6 months of the year.

So you are going to protest high gas prices, by organizing a bunch of gas guzzling cars to take a cruise, and burning tons of fuel.

Sounds like a full proof plan.

I hate the high gas prices, but like I said if you can't beat them join them.... so I work for Exxonmobil..lol

Honestly I dont see how this would work. Take for example Exxon, They dont totally reply on the sale of fuel for their product sales, we also produce many chemicals uses world wide... rubber, plastics, many many other petroleum based products.

Now back to gas.... Just because you boycott one particular station... lets say you choose to avoid Shell for a month. Well what people dont realize it their are other stores that still sale Shell fuel. Racetrack, Circle K, 7-11, etc.... not sure the which one they exatly sell just using the names above as a reference.. What I am trying to say is that many gas stations sell fuel from different providers... so you would have to actually avoid alot more that just one particular brand... Then there is the oils.... take mobil 1, is everyone gonna stop using that too? highly doubt it..

Then there is the bigger picture that we dont see... think about all the airlines, fleet vehicles ( police, fire, truckers, delivery services, ) any business owned vehicles that use fuel that have contracts with a gas station ( ex. Fuelman). Your not going to get them to stop buying fuel for a month at a particular place cause most of these are based on accounts that are hard to change. Then you have all the racing circuits...that have contracts to use a particular fuels...

What about the many many people with gas cards... you think they are going to break routine for this? Truth is people are generally lazy and dont want change. So they are going to continue to do the same routine..

Not trying to bust anyones bubble, cause I too wish the gas prices are lower. But in reality a little boycott as suggestion is merely pocket change and would go unnoticed. It would be more of a pain in the rear to go out of our way for nothing..I just dont think it would work.

We're not going to gurantee that a boycott or demo will change anything, but it makes them (gov't & oil co.) take notice that we're watching. If people don't voice they're disapproval of things than everything would get priced out of reality, and we would cease to exist.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but unless you have a better suggestion, than please put it forward. No one is forcing you to take part, but the negativitiy doesn't help either, especially when some of you have just admitted that "you are upset" about the high gas prices.

The other method is to continue to call and/or e-mail your local politicians on your disapproval, of anything, and let your voice be heard; you might be surprised of the outcome.
