A THANK YOU to Scott Settlemire

Scott,

Through my Camaro years, I have seen some cool stuff, however, last night at the Texas State Fair was probably with out a doubt one of the most emotional and exciting times I have ever had. Watching the car roll up was breathtaking, and seeing the reactions from everyone else was just awesome. I still have a smile on my face and I can’t stop thinking about it.

To me, this is more than a car, it’s an icon and it symbolizes a lot of memories with me, as it does a lot of people. The plethora of emotions I went through as you drove the car up was unmistakably summed up by that of happiness. I am so happy that we finally get our beloved Camaro back at last, and seeing the final version in person for the first time was truly a sight I will never forget.

I appreciate you taking the time to have multiple small conversations with me. I spoke with you a little bit about the car, and about working for GM, and how excited I was. My wife Heidi and I talked to you about how to get my foot in the door at GM, and what needed to be done to make it happen. But most of all I just want to say thank you for everything you have done for the enthusiast community, for being our link to GM and the camaro, and for being our friend.

You are a wonderful guy, and from the time I have spent with you and talking to you, you are also probably one of the nicest guys I know. Thank you for the invite to the unveiling, thanks for taking the time to talk to us, and thank you for everything else you do. I honestly wish you could get the first Camaro that rolls off the line…you deserve it.

I definitely add my thanks to Scott. I wasn't able to meet or talk to you (do to my own stupidity of not listening closely enough to directions and getting lost), but I do appreciate everything that you have done. My girlfriend said she has never seen my face light up like it did when we walked up to the car. My dad also made it out (thanks Jim!). He and I have never had the best of relationships, but there has always been a shared love for Camaros between us, and times like last night are when I truly feel like a father and son should. He was actually at the state fair in 1967 when the first one was there, and it was great to get to hear those stories. Thanks Scott!

I've been lurking on here for some time now, but just didn't feel like I had anything to add to the conversations. I always looked forward to Scott's posts to cut through the B.S. and speculation. That being said, in the back of my mind I kinda thought that many of the glowing comments about Scott might be a bit of @$$ kissing. As it turns out, Scott lives up to the legend that is developing on Camaro5. Even at 9:00 pm last night, while he was directing people on getting things shut down, he took the time to ask my wife and I how we enjoyed the event and what we thought of the car. It's obvious that he's very good at his job and it's really important to him that this car lives up to our expectations. Scott, thank you for the invitation. You put on a great show last night!

I agree X1000,000. He's a heckuva guy and very good at his job. Enthusiasm doesn't describe how devoted he is.

We were joking last noght that with all the traveling he does, its a waste of money if he actually has a house. He probably only sees it 3 weeks out of a year!!

THANKS, SCOTT!!
