if you are dead set on not wearing a seatbelt, order the 'male' end of the buckle from the parts desk, and just plug it into the female end.

thanks for that idea, i do appreciate a serious response. on my f150 there is a whole procedure (per the owners manual) involving the ignition key position and buckling and unbuckling the belt a series of times but i do not find anything like this in the camaro manual. short of finding one of these procedures, i like your idea and guess that would work. thanks again for the feedback. |

I went to the junk yard and bought two black male ends for $5.00. Several other car models will fit.

I know what you're talking about, my Magnum had one. I had to turn the key, push a couple buttons, start the engine, turn off the engine....it was like playing "Simon" on crack.

There is always the option of going under the seat, finding the connector and wires from the seatbelt buckle assembly to where it plugs into the electronics, and shorting out the wires. It's just an open/close trigger. Jumper it to short the two leads out and it's just like buckling your seatbelt.
Leave it jumpered and you'll never hear the chime again. And you can still buckle and unbuckle your seatbelts whenever you want, safely and securely. |

Might consider disabling your airbags as well.
“If you do not wear a seatbelt, the airbag can be a weapon, a source of injury. If you do wear a seatbelt, the airbag most likely will be helpful,” said study coauthor William F. Donaldson III, a Pitt associate professor of orthopaedic surgery and neurological surgery and chief of the Division of Spinal Surgery. “By not buckling your seatbelt, you increase the likelihood of a spinal fracture and spinal cord injury when your airbag deploys in a frontal collision.” http://www.chronicle.pitt.edu/media/...lt_airbag.html |
