Will Spray Paint Come Off Without Harm?

OK, here's the deal...

I installed a trunk blackout decal and it is about 1/8" short on both sides. I am pretty sure it is cut like that on purpose (so it sticks better) and I am not complaining about that. But my car is white so those thin little strips not covered by the decal are pretty noticeable... at least to me.

So I'm thinking of getting some flat black spray paint and just hitting those little strips to blend them into the decal. My question is, if I decide to take off the decal will those little flat black strips I painted come off without harming the underlying paint?

My instincts tell me they will but input from someone who knows would set my mind at ease and save me the trouble of "testing in an inconspicuous place".

Use regular rubbing alcohol follow with a good wax. You'll never be able to tell.

it would be a cold day in hell before i spray painted my clear coat..

If you sprayed it on accident, yea some rubbing alcohol will take it off.

I'm sure over time the paints will bond together. I certainly would not recommend spray painting your clear coat.

If it bothers you that much I would get some scrap vinyl and cover it with that.
