I need an honest answer on spiderwebs...

When I bought my car the "get ready" people washed and detailed my car. Now...everyone has told me (or I should say warned me)...it's a black car so I need to expect some swirls/spiderwebbing.

Today, I had to have some paint defects fixed. Other than the the couple places that needed fixing, when I brought up the detail job, I was told that the some amount of swirls/spiderwebbing in the paint is "normal" and that I am going to drive myself crazy if I try to keep a "perfect" daily driver car.

Now...after getting my car home, they missed one of the "spots" they were supposed to correct....and honestly, I am still kind of upset over the spiderwebbing answer.

I am looking for an honest and realistic answer to how much I should push back....Should I stand my ground or let it go...If I am being crazy, let me know, or if I should really turn into turbobeeeotch I can do that too

Just want some honest opinions...thanks!

Well first off don't let it go man, keep that beautiful car looking great. Yes some spiderwebbing is expect over time but you can use some fine scratch remover and take care of them. You just need to maintain and wax your car properly. Also you will need to use better quality products. The average run of the muck towel for drying your car will only make it harder to maintain. Theres been many threads discusing products to use. In my opinion zaino works great with 100% cotton towels.

a good detailer will get the swirl marks off a car.on a black car you do have to be very careful on how you wash it and detail it.you need to look at the "junkman" video on the forum.it will help you understand how to care for your car.all cars get swirl marks, they are just easier to see on a black car.

Hate to say it but they are correct, especially with a black car.

You will never 100% eliminate swirl marks and you can never prevent them, you can reduce them but not prevent them. If you want a "perfect" car park it in a heated garage, never touch it, never drive it and never let it see sunlight. That's the only way you'll get what you're wanting.

This is the reason why I refuse to ever own a dark colored car.

it hard to maintain, but they can be corrected, we have done plenty of those. However, you would really need to 'upgrade' your wash method to minimize new swirl marks.

If done right swirls can be buffed out you need to bring it back and let them buff it where they missed.

I hit my car with Adam's Fine Machine Polish, once a quarter and it keeps my swirls / marring at a absolute minimum. The FMP does a great job for the really light/fine scratches. My camaro is my daily driver and my paint is always in 90% perfect condition..

Adam's products and a little bit of time well spent.

i agree!!! the same thing happened to mine after the 'detail' shop cleaned it up. spiderwebs all over the car,i mean everywhere possible. they also gave me the same excuse they gave you. i did end up calling my dealer and got the same 'deatil' shop to do it again but they just put a cheap polish on it and when i washed it, with no surprise, the webs were back. i decided to take things into my own hands and did research on this awesome website we have! with a lot of help from junkman and his well put together videos using Adams Polishes i ordered the PC kit and got to work. it took a lot of time and labor but you know what i was more than happy because i knew my paint is getting corrected the right way. i got about almost all of the swirls out. but like everyone says there is no way to get 100% swirl free but man what a difference Adams polishes made!

my process was: clay,swirl/haze remover, fine machine polish, then super machine wax

here is the link of pictures the night i finished

Well, once the damage is done, then you have to virtually start all over with your cleaning and detail regime. swirls and spiderwebs are really really tough to prevent. Like the other members said, its all about the product and materials you use. Even what you think as a clean towel can leave swirl marks. Its not really the dealers fault, they aren't professional detailers, they just wash and dry your car. proper towels is a must, making sure the finish has no dirt on it is a must. dirt is invisible sometime. The process to properly clean and wax you car is hours of work and you have to do it yourself with the right equipment or have someone else help you or do it who has the proper stuff. when done the results are wonderful and you will love how your car looks again. I've got the materials and equipment if you would like to discuss gettin your car back to its factory look. You are welcome to PM me or call and I will discuss with you your concerns.
