Question 20 polished rims and breakdust

every time i try and clean my rims im never really happy, im afraid to use anything on them cause i dont want them getting foggy but what do u know they look foggy. any suggestions? also even when i do get them looking good after a few rider]s they are covered in break dust again, is there any way to prevent this or at least limit it?

Assuming they are the factory polished wheels - they are clear coated. So if they are hazing (they shouldn't be unless your using a harsh chemical cleaner) you need to clay, polish, and wax those bad boys just like you would your paint. As for break dust, your hosed unless you invest in ceramic pads.

A few threads I've come across suggest you can minimize the dust by waxing the wheels.. I have always waxed my wheels, so I don't have a comparison. One of these days I'm going to 50/50 a wheel and test the wax theory.

i have the polished wheels too. I waxed them as soon as I got the car. It takes me about 5 minutes to clean my wheels when they are dirty......spray them off with water if they are really bad, them use a regular detailer spray and wipe them off, both inside and out. PIECE OF CAKE.

Eagle One makes a 2 in 1 cleaner, wheel and tire, that does a really good job.

Use this http://www.p21s.com/products/bis_wc1.html

Can be bought at a lot of places, does an amazing job and it wont harm your wheel finish or your calipers.

have you ever heard of Meguiars Mag and Aluminum polish?...i've heard good things about it...use a terry towel to apply and buff off and it leaves a cinnamon scent behind...haven't tried it yet, but it's an idea

Yeah, a real PIA upkeep annoyance. I use a couple of worn out COTTON T-Shirts,
slightly dampened. I can get two wheels with one shirt by turning the shirt inside out. I try to do it every couple of days so the build up is not too excessive.

you do NOT want to use this product on our wheels. that is for untreated / bare metal. ALL of the Camaro wheels are clear coated. Using something intended for bare metal can damage the finish on clear coated wheels.

Beat me to it...

Don't use any metal polish on clear coat...

I haven't seen where waxing my wheels really helped at all other than water beading. My wheels look ok but to me polished wheels look like dirty chrome. To help with the dust I'm taking everyones advice and gong with ceramic brake pads
