They don't help much, once it goes off they already caught you. Sometimes the signal bounces around before they get a shot at you so it's a good preemptive thing to have to avoid some of them. A decent brand is Cobra if you don't want to spend more than $100.

Using my Valentine 1
I went through the same nit picking process when I was picking mine out. So far my V1 is 7 for 7 on spotting cops. Great example of the amazingness that is the directional arrows, during my last road trip I was passing a minivan and got up to about the low 90s. V1 picks up on a Laser and I hit the brakes. Hit cruise control at 3 over the speed limit and wait, 2 minutes later an undercover cop rolls by and makes eye contact with me. |

Don't have one yet, but have been looking at the Escort Passport 9500ix, will be doing more research before getting one. Plan on doing a road trip to the east coast and will definately need one on for those long straight roads.

Belltronixs STiR with Pro Laser shifters. The Valentine is supposed to work real good but the police can detect them if you live where they are against the law.Belltronixs is said to be undetectable and the Pro Laser is marketed as a parking assist.
