When that day comes... what will it sound like?

The day when conventional combustion engines, gasoline and the likes, have been replaced with electric? High performance even!

What will traffic sound like? What will a day at the races sound like? What will the Indy 500 sound like, or maybe NASCAR??

It may not be in my lifetime... or ever, but it is a possibility. I'm not looking for politics, I'm just asking to use your imagination and describe what some events might sound like minus the 'auto' sound. Good or Bad... just curious.

i think they'll find a way to make those electric engines make noise of some sort, and no I'm not talking about exterior speakers playing ICE noises

Grab your butt cheeks, spread them apart so they won't flap, and let out a fart. That is what it will sound like.

That day will not come. Electric cars are a dumb technology. What happens when you massively increase the demand for electricity in this country? You increase the demand for coal. Oh, great idea, lets swap fossil fuels and just delay our problems. 57% of the electrical energy produced in the US is from burning coal. On top of that, with lithium ion batteries becoming the new "efficient" thing in electric cars, what do you do with all of those batteries when they die like every other lithium-ion battery? Fill landfills with millions of lithium-ion batteries the size of dogs? There's a reason electric cars have been attempted before and failed. They SHOULD fail again, but with the stupidity in this country I wouldn't be surprised if they were extremely successful this time around. Electric cars are NOT the solution to our problem.

Batteries can be recycled.

And there are many other sources for electricity now, and many many more in the future.

Many more sources for electricity... like? Together, coal and nuclear power supply over 3/4 of the electricity in the United States. Both are extremely inefficient (nuclear even less than coal, despite what many think) and coal is very unclean. Recycling lithium-ion batteries costs money that would have to come out of nowhere due to the low scrap value of the materials, which is exactly why they aren't recycled now. Almost all of the lithium ion batteries we use go straight to landfills after about 500 or so charges because they are supposedly safe to discard (LOL!). The electricity has to come from somewhere and just shifting the energy dependency we have on crude oil to coal and nuclear power is not a solution to our problem. If we are going to use electric cars and want to solve ANY of the problems we are having with oil, we need to find a much more efficient, cleaner energy source to get the electricity from than we currently use. Otherwise we are just going to delay the exact same problems. Electric cars have been introduced and reintroduced, but have never succeeded. I hope they don't now because it will just delay research and development to solve the problems that must be solved eventually. Just to give you a little background on where my information is coming from, I am an environmental science/engineering major. That's not to say I know more about the subject than anyone else here, but my information isn't coming from some article on AOL news or CNN.

You might want to do a bit more research on nuclear power, calling it inefficient is not very accurate. I am not claiming electric power is the future, I don't know, but there is a ridiculous amount of energy available in nuclear fuel compared to fossil fuels. Getting the energy out is extremely cost effective as well.

There is a huge amount of energy available, but most of it is lost. HUGE amounts of thermal energy are lost in nuclear power-plants. Both coal and nuclear power use heat engines and convert to electricity. Nuclear power is literally less efficient. On top of that, suitable materials are much more difficult and expensive (as far as energy and money go) than coal to obtain. Nuclear power is much cleaner than coal, but coal, at least at the moment, is better for energy production in the long run.
