Paint repair and car wash soap question

I just got my camaro back today and the body shop said not to wash it with car soap and to wash it with dish soap for 30 days! I thought dish soap hurt the paint? I am pretty anal about keeping my car clean so this bugs the crap out of me. Any suggestions for soap? It goes back into the shop on Thursday but I don't like it dirty

OH GOD!! Thats my local dealership here in Georgetown. I've heard a few horror stories about their body shop. Now I KNOW not to go to them for any body work.

I'm even a little leary about taking my SS to them for a TSB fix. Do you have any experience with their service department?

Did they paint the entire car or just a panel or two? I could understand them saying not to use "car wash soap" for 30 days. They are recommending this to give the paint time to cure before you seal it with any waxes. Remember, a lot of car wash soaps now days has wax mixed in with the soap.

If they just painted it, there better not be any wax on it.

your paint place is dumb.

dish soap dries out plastic trim. use regular car wash soap, just don't wax it for a month.

I would not recommend them, they had to repaint just the bumper twice, took them 7 days and i have to take it back to get the rest completed. They even paid for the extra days on my rental car because they knew they messed up.

Yep that what I've heard about their body shop for at least a couple years... They can't ever seem to get it right the first time.

If you're in Georgetown and need body work in the future, use David Collision. They're downtown kinda by the library. I've used them twice before and my friends have used them several times... perfect work every time.
