Removing Rear Seat
1) There are 2 clips at the front of the seat, about center of the "bucket" portion, one on each side. Firmly lift the seat straight up. Push the seat belt latches through to the bottom of the seat.
2) The bottom portion will fold upward basically flush with the upper portion. It will spring back down so you have to hold it up there. 3) There is a large nut in the center you need to remove, 18mm deep socket. 4) At each corner there are 2 bolts to remove, the one on the bottom is easy to spot but there is one above it partially hidden. 15mm socket 5) Pull the loop to unlatch the upper portion and lift out. Be VERY mindful of the metal at the bottom of the seat to prevent harming your interior trim. |

Move the seat forward all the way, Then fold the seat forward, There are 2 bolts to remove in the track at the rear of the seat, then all you do is lift and slide it back to remove the seat, Don't forget the electric connectors.

How much weight could be shaved off if you remove the rear seats and front passenger seat?

got the weights
As for the seats...... front seat from a 2LT trim with leather and electric can save ......aprox. 48 lbs. rear seat bottom is another 12 lbs. rear seat back is another 18 lbs for a total seat removal of 78 lbs.......

good call. If it to can be removed I will look into that too. Thinking about the weight drop for next season once I get some drag radials and make an all out attempt at some good times. Gives me another good reason for the driver to drop his 100 lbs.

That gets us to 88 lbs for the seats. Plus 100 lbs for the driver. Another 80 lbs for the gas (run on a 1/4 tank instead of full tank). Take out the wiper fluid bottle, another 6 to 8 lbs. remove the engine cover, trunk spare tire cover, mat, and air pump (all good for maybe another 8 - 10 lbs.) empty the glove box (maybe 2 lbs.)
All totaled for 284 lbs. Wroth approximately .3 seconds. That would defiantly get someone into the 13's.

I'm 2 years late to the party but I will say thanks for the info. I am installing custom fitted seat covers for my LS and it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to install them properly without removing the seats. Gracias Amigos!
