Doug Thorley Cat-back question.

Anyone have any idea which mufflers they used for this system? If you do know, are they available through any vendor on this site?

I've already bought a magnaflow tru-x pipe, but love the DT Catback sound. Wouldnt really be interested unless the price was around $400 or less.

Thanks!

They make their own mufflers but I'm pretty sure they are dual chambered (If memory serves me correctly from a phone conversation I had with Frank at DT). Send Frank a PM at Doug Thorley Headers and he'll be able to confirm. Also, Bad Karma has a lot of information about their Cat-back system too. He may even sell their products but not sure. Good luck.

Thanks for the plug!

I'm an authorized dealer and will not be beat on any Doug Thorley price.

Getting to the meat and potatoes....The Doug Thorley Catback system uses their own proprietary Mufflers in the kit. They are called "Aero Flow" and while they are not neccessarily a "Thru" design, they are chambered for a specific frequency to produce the best power and sound. That's the easiest way to describe it.

Also, there are no visible clamps in the system and no welding is neccessary so installation can be done in your own driveway in just about an hour using handtools for a totally professional look!

Please let me know if there are anymore questions that I can help you in your quest for more.

Still awaiting the whole "GM Licensing" ordeal that Camaro5.com is going through and then we'll be able to get more verbal and public with pricing and all that.

But I can still offer you great service and the best prices if you PM me.

Thanks again and best of luck to you,
Ivan

I just removed a DT Cat back system from my L99 Camaro and reinstalled the stock system for now. I could not deal with the drone when in 4 cyl mode (AFM). I would like to sell the entire system. I really liked the sound of the DT mufflers, especially at WOT. I will probably go to an axle back system as soon as I sell the DT system. I would like to get $475.00 for the DT system.

Do you have a video of the drone? I've heard a couple people say it's too loud but not the drone yet.

Do you have headers on your car as well or just the Catback?

Thanks and best of luck with your sale sir....should sell fast at that price.

Do you think on an LS3 it would not have the drone?

I haven't heard any untolerable nor annoying drone on either of the three (V6/LS3/L99) to be honest.

I really need to hear a video.

I don't have a video. The drone was only when the AFM kicked in, otherwise I really liked the sound. Since the LS3 cars don't have AFM I think the DT exhaust would be great.

Would you discribe the drone as low or high pitched when the AFM kicked on?

Man, sorry for your experience but I'd like to learn as much about it as I can.

Thanks for sharing and take care,
Ivan
