MORE Rt. 66!!! - My drive from Chicago to Joliet in my 2010 RS

Since everybody enjoyed my previous thread about driving my Camaro RS down the Mother Road from Joliet to St. Louis, I thought that you would also enjoy seeing pics of the historical sites located along Rt. 66 from where it begins/ends in Chicago to Joliet, Illinois. I also kept going south of Joliet to get a few pics of the interior of the Launching Pad Restaurant in Wilmington as well as the Riviera Restaurant in Gardner which I missed on the first trip. Once again the pics are displayed in the order that you would see them driving southwest from Chicago. Enjoy!

If you want to see the pics from Joliet to St. Louis section that I drove a few weeks before, go to: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74161

If you want more information on Rt. 66 in Illinois, go to http://www.illinoisroute66.org/, http://www.legendsofamerica.com/66-Illinois.html, http://www.il66assoc.org/ or http://www.historic66.com/illinois/

On a side note, during my trip I stopped to have a late lunch at the Launching Pad Restaurant and this guy came up to me and asked if I was "Doing Route 66." I told him that I was just doing the northern part because I did the rest of the Illinois parts a couple of weeks before. He then proceeded to tell me in a thick Australian accent that he and his wife were driving the entire route!! They had been planning this trip for years and they finally were able to get six weeks vacation time and they decided to drive it all. He complimented me on my Camaro and said that he had noticed it while I was in Joliet taking pics. I proceeded to thank him and his countrymen for helping to bring the car together in the first place. What a nice guy!

Update! I just drove through Gardner on old Route 66 the other day and noticed that The Riviera Restaurant pictured in the last few pictures has burned down!! It is now just a pile of burned wood. I guess I was lucky to see it and photograph it before it was lost.

Thanks Scotty, you must do the drive. I took these photos back in March/April and just recently went down rt. 66 again and noticed that a historic restaurant that I had photographed had burned down, so I thought I'd give the update. The drive from Joliet to St. Louis was even more interesting! If you haven't seen it already, check out that thread I posted back in March at: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74161

Unfortunately, yes it is. I like the Miata and RX-8 but I wouldn't trade a Camaro for either.
