Post New Photos of Headlight Armor Smoked Taillight Kits at Night from 500 & 1000 ft

We have recently been receiving a lot of PM's and email asking about how well the taillights will work with our various smoke taillight kits applied. We have a variety of different (usually day time) shots on the site for various products, but until recently, not many night shots. Last night we did a full test at both 500 and 1000 feet with all three tint shades available! We have added a Smoked Taillight Kit Night Testing page to the site here

Perhaps you have wondered if the running lights / parking lights or even the brake lights were still functional with a Headlight Armor Smoked Taillight Kit applied. Well here is what a vehicle equipped with various Headlight Armor Smoked Taillight kits looks like at night. We did two different sets; the first at ~500 feet and the second at ~1000 feet. All photos were done with the same vehicle, parked in the same spots on the same night. The left side taillights in the photos have the various tint levels and the right side taillights were left stock to compare the difference with the film applied.

Test Conditions
  • Camera - Nikon 4600
  • Camera Settings - 2 Sec Exposure, ISO 100, 105mm Effective Focal Length
  • Photo Editing - None (just resized)
  • Test Vehicle - 2001 Honda Civic - Stock Incandescent Bulbs

Full set on the site here

20% Dark Stealth Smoke (the darkest material we have available). The two lighter versions will have less impact on the light output of course.

Running Lights at 500 Feet Dark Stealth Smoke on the left side and the right side is stock for comparison

Brake Lights at 500 Feet Dark Stealth Smoke on the left side and the right side is stock for comparison

Running Lights at 1000 Feet Dark Stealth Smoke on the left side and the right side is stock for comparison

Looks like you can see them fine. During the day here tinted lights can get you a fine. Clear armor might be something I'd look at though.

Oh BTW isn't using a honda civic blasphemy on these boards.

Thanks! Yes they were pretty visible in person. (The above photos are of the darkest version too.) As always, we make no guarantees as to street legality for any of our lighting protection and smoked taillight kits, not even the clear versions. The photos are a demonstration of what the lights look like at a distance.

As for the car, it was the backup choice. We did have a few other cars lined up but for a multitude of reasons, none made it...

Enjoy the photos and let us know if you have any questions.

At the moment we only have daytime photos of the headlights on the new Camaro. There are likely some customer photos floating around, but nobody has sent in night shots of the Camaro at this point, sorry.
