This is for those of you with GFX who may have been swayed by some on this forum stating the GMPP axle back would fit. They do NOT fit, at least without serious modifications.
I went to my dealer Friday to have the off-road package installed. The dealer eye-balled the setup and expressed his reservations they would not fit. Buoyed by the opinions expressed here by 2 other posters I said "Nah, no problem--they'll fit, go ahead and cut." So they cut where the instructions said to cut. To really fit the 4" tips, (which are really 4.5" BTW) into the GFX housing the muffler needs to move forward several inches so the tips will fit in the dished-out area. This can only be done if you cut more off the pipe, which you can't do because you run into the hanger rods on the pipe. Or, if you manage to do it some other way the muffler hangers on the mufflers will be too far forward to align with the hangers on the rear of the frame--requiring cutting and re-welding. Neither of which I nor the dealer were willing to do. So I had them install the more sedate package with no tips, figuring I could easily find some good tips. 2 days, 6 shop visits, and 4 hours internet shopping later, I found a couple of candidates which a local shop could order in overnight to try to fit. I found a decent set of stainless oblong angle-cut rolled edge tips that a local Magnaflow (Master Muffler) shop was able to make fit. They actually look pretty good--almost as good as MBRP's rectangular tips. (Pics to follow.) Now for the sound review: Deeper rumble, only about 10% louder, still too quiet. Maybe they'll break-in a little louder. Maybe an X-Pipe will help? Not ready yet for LT headers and high-flow cats, but that should help too. Moral of the story: Don't believe everything you hear on the internet.

I always thought that they would. Unless this is different than the OP.

If you have GFX, you have to get the ones with no tips. I am pretty sure it says that in the GM literature somewhere, even

It does. I bought the 'no tips' version and they fit fine. Had to buy aftermarket (Borla) tips, though.

I think their names were Prankster1 and Prankster2. I wanted to believe they would fit, and even though you would think most GM dealers would know what they're talking about, they've been wrong before.
I really wanted your Type S axle back, but couldn't find a local dealer, and I didn't have the patience to wait for mail order, which would have to be delivered to my work, not home (that's a whole nuther story). The one Utah dealer listed on your web site (a Goodyear Tire shop) said they are no longer a Borla dealer. So I "settled" for the GMPP. Maybe in a couple years when I can afford a maggie I'll go to LT's and a complete new 3" system.

The stock tips rubbed on mine...could not wait to get them off. I don't think any round tip is gonna fit in there right. This is not really a hard thing to find out without installing. I mean just stick the tips up to the bezel before the install and it is obvious there is no way they would go through.

The stock tips are 3-3/4" in diameter. A 4" tip would fit, as the stock tips have at least 1/2" or more of clearance, top & bottom. The problem is the 4" tips are actually almost 4 1/2". Then you have to move the tip forward to take advantage of the "bumps" in the GFX stainless housing to get the maximum clearance. The stock mufflers have the tips almost touching the muffler body, with almost no pipe because the stock cans are almost up against the diffuser. Oh well, what I've got works, it has more rumble than stock and seems to be getting a little louder every day.

It clearly states that you need to buy the kit without tips if you have the GFX.
