XM Radio customer service is awful!

Here is my experience with XM:

I bought my car in late January. I knew I would not be driving my car until April due to winter weather, so I called XM and asked them if I could delay my 3 month free trial until I started driving my car in April. The guy I talked to said he would put a note on my account indicating that this would be fine and that I should call back when I start driving my car in April.

So, I called XM today to get my 3 month trial activated. They said they could give me 3 months free if I agreed to sign up for a year when the trial ended. I said that I was not willing to sign up until I'd had my free trial. So, she transferred me to her supervisor.

The supervisor said there was no note in the system indicating that I was ever told that I could defer my 3 month trial. However, she was willing to give me a 2 month free trial if I agreed to sign up for a year.

To that I said "your customer service is terrible and I am not interested in doing business with you. Goodbye"

This company is horrible! With such bad service and hard sell tactics it's no wonder they are bordering on bankruptcy. This is exactly the kind of company I would NEVER give my credit card number to. Imagine how hard it would be for me to cancel their service if they had my credit card number.

It's really a shame that I never did get to try out XM. I might have actually liked it, but I am not going to ever do business with them after having this experience.

My experience with them goes like this.Got my car in October and my three month trial expired. They mailed me ,emailed, phoned me and I ignored them. They called this week and offered all kinds of programs.Told them no as I stored my car until May Ist.each year and did not need it from October until May Ist.when I got her out of the garage. They then offered me coverage, all channels for $23.00 for coverage from May Ist.thru October Ist. 2010.The advisor was polite, not forceful and worked with me as I inquired about life time subscription and I felt it was too much prior to her last offer. My plan is let it expire again next year and do the same.Refuse all offers until I get one that I like or walk.Oh and I told them to bill me via mailed statement so that I would not get an automatic renewal.Sorry to here of your experience as I really like xm.

If you wait for a few months to pass after the trial expires, you will get in the mail a letter saying they will honor $5 a month forever. I told them I would if they would lower it to $4 a month..lol..They couldn't do that they said..I told them their quality is horrendous and listening to anything sounds like its underwater and that FM sounds more crystal clear and its free.. I haven't heard from them since..

Just FYI if you were interested in $5 a month subscription since it does exist.. Just wait for it, they will come back begging.

Never had a problem with them. Got my service for $6.50 a month. Just call and cancel your service and they will offer you a different rate. I wouldn't get the lifetime service, because that is the lifetime of the XM radio I believe. My first one started to die after 3 years.

I got the XM Lifetime and was told that this is for the Lifetime of the car, the only way it can be transferred is if you total your vehicle. 3 year service 402.00 lifetime is 459.00 a no brainer for me.

Same here....I signed up for the 5 month subscription at $23.
My car isn't used in the winter months either.
I figured it was worth it.

I enjoy the service, sound quality is as good if not better than FM where I live but yeah the CS is abysmall. I've had it since 02 and it seems evry year you have to fight with them over something. Worst part is you can talk to several different CS reps and never get offered the same price...They obviously went to the Nextel school of CS

Yes, until network connection to the car get better I'll keep fighting with XM CS. Or until there CS drives the people away and XM goes away !
