Widest tire to fit stock SS rim?

Does anyone know what is the widest tire that will fit the stock 20"x9" rear SS rim? I'd like to get 315/35-20 on the rear but it seems those tires require a 10" wide rim at a minimum.

305s have been used but I wouldn't recomend it. There is a thread on here about it.

The widest I'd recommend on a 9.0 wheel, for safety and handling reasons, is a 295 tire. Even the factory 275 tires are actually a little on the wide side for a 9.0 wheel, they should have used a 9.5 wheel to be perfect.

Will the 315 fit? Sure it can be put on the wheel, but that tire was designed to work safely with a 10.5-12.5 wheel. If you aren't worried about handling, or overworking the sidewalls, or wearing out the middle of your tread pattern...by all means do the 315

I want to keep my stock wheels for now . . . . I think I may try a 255/40/20 up front and a 295/35/20 out back . . . . should work without throwing any lights but not many options for tires presently

I put a 315 on a 9.5 corvette rim, and it looked like a donut. I had CCW make me 11.5 inch rims and it made all the difference.
Say no to 315s and stock rims
