I have a few problems with my Camaro i would like to fix. I was hoping someone could help me pin point what exactly is wrong.
1. After it rains i get the check engine light. I believe it is the O2 sensor but i am not positive. 2. Every time i hit a bump in the road my stereo and window's power go out. 3. Only my trunk speakers work. I think the amp or headunit is the problem. 4. Is there anyway to stop the squeaky suspension? Thank you for reading this. |

1. Rain is the key here. Water is getting into one or more connections, not allowing the computer to get acceptable voltage readings. Get the code(s) read by a scanner -some are only $50.00, or you can ground the diagnostic terminal and the check engine light will flash the codes. Search Google for exact procedure. 2. Another bad connection, this one caused by physical movement from bumps. None of this is easy. You either remove interior panels and wiggle wiring until you make the problem occur, or simply run new fused wiring to feed it and bypass the intermittently bad connection. 3. Could be wiring, could be head unit. Try switching rear output to front speakers. If they come on, the HU is defective. 4. Silicone spray the problem area. Saturate it. Have a friend bounce the car as necessary while you locate and lubricate. Good luck.

2001 v6 camaro rs 3.8L.....
take your car to an autozone and have them scan your codes. just because the light isnt on, doesnt mean that the code isnt stored. that way you are just shooting in the dark. but it sounds like a bad ground somewhere the stereo and window power going out sounds like bad/loose wiring or possibly even the RAP (Retained Accessory Power) module. your front speakers could be blown, when I got my car i didnt even have front speakers in it. as for the suspension, you could try to grease up the fittings, or replace the bushings all around.

I am 99% sure that it is your BCM (body control module) It controls accessory funtions ex:windows, keyless entry, stereo. I have this EXACT problem in my car. If you get in the passenger side look under the glovebox, pull the flap down that you could kick with your toe if you were sitting in the seat. Look up and you should see a black box looking thing with wires running to it... http://www.saturnfans.com/photos/dat...thumbs/BCM.jpg thats what it looks like, (sorry its so small) but get under there and wiggle the wires...if that cuts the stereo on and off its a loose connection to the BCM if that doesn't work, then it's a bad BCM and you will need to replace otherwise it will continue to cut out. |

Thanks again everyone. I just wish i could get the time to look at it. lol school and work are no fun. =[
With the speakers i replace the front ones; I am pretty sure they are not getting power. I'm thinking of just redoing the whole audio system. I want to find a GPS touch screen head unit that would fit just like the stock radio does. Haven't found one of those yet. I have the cd changer as well and i kind of want to keep it. Oh well. I will figure it out. |
