4th Gen, an acquired taste?

When the Camaro switched to the 4th generation ('93) I was a couple years removed from high school (yes... graduated), and %$#in' off as most 20 yr olds do. Anyway, those days I was a pretty big fan of 3rd gen (my youth) and every generation prior. And to be totally frank, I almost always picked the Firebird Hotwheels Car over the Camaro Hotwheels.

Well... lets just say I was not a big fan of Generation 4. I even remember my first reaction when I saw one... "What the $#@ did they do to the Camaro, at least the Firebird looks O.K."

So that being said... the past few years, I've really changed my opinion on 4th gen Camaros. Besides all the badass ones on here, I see more and more of them these days... & the more I see, the more I like! There are three '4th gens' that park near me at work. Today I snapped a picture while parked next to the silver convertible. I thought it was a good photo op. and a chance to share some 4th Gen love.

Loved it since I first laid eyes on it. But then again, I was twelve...

i started liking the 4th gen when i realized i couldent afford a 5th gen lol, and then the reality of being able to own a 4th gen really sank in with me, and now i love it. in a way i like the 4th better than than the 5th, i guess the term "you cant miss what you never had" would apply

exact same feelings. saw it thought it was ugly compared to the other camaros and all cars for that matter. that quickly changed and i love their look now i like the older 4th gens with the old style headlights as opposed to the newer headlights like the ones seen on the 02

I think 4th generation Camaros, both LT1 and LS1 styles, really are a love/hate thing like y'all said. My girl was absolutely in love when I had my LT1 Camaro, but some people just didn't get it, thought it was weird.

Sad to say but 4th generation Firebirds get much more respect appearance wise from the general population. In the end, who cares though. Your car, your opinion is the only one that matters.

I like the LT1 Camaros, and can't hardly stand the look of the LT1 Firebirds, but I am so-so when it comes to the LS1 Camaros, and I love the LS1 Firebirds.

I got into 4th gens when I got one as a surprise (the one I have now). I was looking for 3rd gens for my first car, and my uncle comes pulling up with my 4th gen. Then I really got into them.

For me it's not really an acquired taste, I like every generation of the camaro, it's just that with two expensive cars in my garage already, I went with what was most feasible at the time. Personally, I'd rather have a 4th gen than a 5th one for the next couple of years, when the used 5th gens will drop in price

I wasn't a huge fan of the body per se, but I bought mine for performance. The appearance has grown on me. I had a couple of thirdgens at the time and was looking to move up to a newer, more reliable performance car and the fifth gen didn't exist at the time.

Yup acquired taste cause I thought they were ugly then and still feel the same way. It's a reason the Camaro went away and the styling was a big part of the reason.

I loved my 94 Z/28! I've been keeping my eye on 4th GEN's locally. I'd like to pick one up again.

I can't say it's an acquired taste.
I've loved the late 4th gens since I saw their shining bumpers. Being 15 though, I didn't really know what the other Camaro's looked like, but I knew that the late 4th gen Camaro was the car I wanted.
I guess I should point out I originally wanted a '93-97 Camaro before I saw a '98-'02.
